I’ve always been a Ford guy, but my F150 left me stranded 200 miles from home last week. Shot ecoboost at 116,000 miles. Lucky, AAA towed me 200 miles back to the the dealer where I’ve bought my last four or five vehicles. Sadly, that dealers service group declared her DOA. No only that, mentioned they’ve seen this on ecoboosts before. Borescope revealed badly scored cylinder walls and at least one cracked piston. Maintenance was mobile one every 6000 miles and other normal maintenance stuff. Made an offer to my sales guy and it was rejected. Two of my friends had made the switch, one after blowing an ecoboost at 100k. Sporting a 2017 Longhorn now and not looking back. Looking forward to learning Ram Trucks and figuring out what the heck Mopar means.

Welcome to RamForum.

MOPAR is now considered by FCA USA LLC as their original parts provider, however, MOPAR is a term whose history goes much further back in time than FCA's ownership of the Chrysler group.

The term was first used by Chrysler in the 1920s and was introduced as a brand starting in 1937. The name Mopar was created by a committee to use on cans of "Chrysler Motor Parts" antifreeze.

Later, it was informally adopted by Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler & DeSoto enthusiasts as a descriptor assigned to the entire portfolio of brands under Chrysler control. Obviously, Plymouth and DeSoto have since met their demise but owners of those brand vehicles still refer to them as MOPARs.

So the sticker says 17 mpg mixed. First tank after the initial dealer tank got 17.13 mpg mixed. I’m happy. That’s with a little spirited driving mixed in too. Next to plan a long hwy trip and see what I get.
