Hi all,

I bought my first diesel a couple years ago. It's a 2020 Ram 2500. Wife and I are about to take it on a road trip from Tennessee to South Dakota. Since I am fairly new to this world, was wondering if there was any special I needed to do before hand or during the drive????

Are you taking a TT and/or hauling whilst on this road trip?

Ensure your battery(ies) is/are fully up to the task (load test before heading out with an old-school toaster style 100A battery tester).

Check cold tire pressure and adjust cold as needed to suit the task (towing and/or hauling).

Enjoy the road trip & safe travels!

change fluids, filters, etc if needed.
check tires
buy a lot of DEF

Get all the service stations apps for discounts.

Leave the moonshine at home.
For 2400 mile round trip will I need more DEF of its full when i leave?

Moonshine will stay put!

Sorry I meant to post that. Just going to have a few things in the truck bed. Nothing heavy at all.

If you fill your def before you leave, you should not need any additional def during your trip. One def fill should last for thousands of miles especially not hauling anything. Check your tire pressures cold, check oil, enjoy the tip. On the positive, that sort of highway / interstate travel should clean out your dpf filter nicely.

Yep....all interstate and highway driving for 1200 miles one way so the filter should be nice a clean!
