has anyone installed the aftermarket front facing camera?
that one that i saw basically replaced the ram badge on the front grill.

was it hard to install, and was it worth the time\expense\effort?

The camera itself is, in my opinion, extremely overpriced. It's a $10 Chinese camera in a $20 (if aftermarket) or $40 (if oem) badge that they charge (last I looked) $175 for. Quite a bit of upcharge for drilling a hole.

That said, the concept is good. You can do it yourself (somewhat difficult to get the hole precisely where it needs to be) or you can do what others like myself have done or are in the process if doing and mount one in the grill itself. To be able to view the image on the radio you will either need a device such as a Lockpick or a pigtail wire from M2Mods and a copy of AlphaOBD to turn on the option (uses the Cargo Camera input). If you already have a cargo camera then your only "on radio screen" option is the Lockpick. Others have used the wireless camera and mounted the little monitor they come with to the dash.

I mounted a camera in the tow hook cover plate. It's better than nothing, but being that low, I don't get a good idea of distance. I'm going to mount another camera higher up to get a better angle.
Even a simple license plate frame camera would be a little bit higher, but still not high enough.

Install is not all that difficult with the pre-installed camera in the badge.

My not mechanically inclined neighbor did it in his truck (including lockpick installation) in an afternoon.
