My wife has finally agreed to let me spend more money on my truck as she finally accepted how bad the stock projectors and lights are on our trucks.

Looking for any information or tips anyone has regarding the install of FX-R 3.0 projectors and a 2015+ Morimoto Elite HID kit 35w ballasts, 5500k HIDs

Anyone with the projectors have any pros/cons either?

Trs sells a kit specifically for oem projector headlights like yours. It's a mini d2s 4.0 with a custom bracket that bolts directly into the holes on your housing. Seems like a easy swap since you dont have to worry about adjusting rotation.

Mini d2s 4.0 I believe outperforms the ancient fxr.

I had the D2S 4.0 in my F-150. Light output is not worth it given the amount of extra work required. The high beam is where the D2S shines. You would not be disappointed with the D2S given the lack of installation difficulty compared to an FXR which would require extensive modification, cutting and custom work. Just not worth it when the D2S would give you similar performance, with an almost fool proof install.

Thanks for the input. Will look into D2S 4.0’s and the HID kit instead of FX-R’s then

Nothing wrong with the FXRs 3.0. I had mine done in a weekend with the kit from TRS. Going on 3 years, been running 5500k D2S XB bulbs and elite 55w ballasts. Besides the PITA getting the housing open bolting the projectors in wasn’t hard but talk to Jeremy at retroshop as he substitutes the bolts for better ones as the TRS was really long. I did these on the stock 14 sport headlights and transferred them over to my 18 Laramie a year ago. FXR has a good wide beam pattern.

Yea I've watched a few install videos and such. I'm an airplane mechanic and have access to a nice wide variety of special tools for opening headlights and extra hardware if needed for setting up the projectors in the housings.

I think I would stick with the FX-R's over the DS2 4.0's after reading reviews and watching vids
