I've seen only one with any experience with this tire on the forums. I've read a lot of good reviews on them though. I'm looking for an AT tire (275/65r20) that has good traction in the snow and good highway wear. My only issue with them is that tire rack lists them at 62lbs. each for the 275/65 which is heavier than others in the same size.

My other options were the BFG AT KOs, Duratracs, or the Toyo OC AT2, all the same size as above. I would appreciate any experience you could share!

Years ago we the other half bought a 1999 ML320. It came with a set of General's and those tires lasted almost 100,000 miles. Next time I need tires on my PU they are going to be Generals.

My 305/50R20 Grabber AT2's have been awesome so far
Snow and Ice are a non-issue at -17º

I suspect the rubber may get stiffer when it drops to -30º or more.

IMG-20141110-01660_zpsedd4e820.jpg

...they are only 50lbs ea but I suspect the 275/65R20's are substantially heavier because they are E rated and likely 8 or 10 ply with an 80lb max psi.
Probably intended for HD 2500/3500 trucks.

Bought a set of 33's for my wife's Wrangler, they've been awesome for the short time we've had them.

Fantastic. Thanks for the feedback guys. They sound like exactly what I'm looking for, and they're amongst the cheapest too.

on the move..

I had pretty good luck with them on road, and offroad (minus mud) in my dakota. However they sucked in the snow and ice. Really bad. Id recommend the duratracs, they are awesome in the snow. A few of my friends have them, and ive watched them crawl out of ditches with those tires.

I had a set on AT2's on my 06 jeep commander. Absolutely loved them. Good looking tire with a great tread pattern for inclement weather. Worked great during last years snow storms here in the mid atlantic. Highly recommended them, as i will also be purchasing a set for my '12 CC.

Stay away from the KO's
I had the Grabber HP on my last truck and thought them to be a good tire and no problems in snow. Wet weather they were good until they wore down and then still decent but had some slippage.
I am personally looking at the Duratrac's, they have excellent reviews, are priced lower than most and look awesome.
Have heard decent things about the Cooper Zeon LTZ also

What in world the are you two talking about saying to stay away from BFG? Who do you think General attempted to copy when they made this tire? It is a knockoff AT KO. I think the generals are fine but they will likely not last as long as the BFG AT that is why they are cheaper. Also you should know they just changed the BFG AT and it is now available in stock size 275/60R20 so that will help keep cost more in line with others.
Oh and the BFG AT is different for the 275/65R20 size and is not severe snow rated like most of the other sizes.

Yes it will so does 285/65R20 only place you may get a little rub is turning it might rub on bump inside the drivers side fender toward the cab.

They incorporate a similar design----> but as for compound?

General seems to have larger voids.... BFG seem to have the deeper tread... Maybe that's just due to tire size.

I used a set of OEM size BFG A/T on a Small Jimmy 4x4--->They were awesome in snow and really were amazing on the Ice.... I had to keep them rotated on schedule... My wife drove this auto during her commute back and forth to college.... I think they lasted around 41K miles. Downside was $$$$$! Great Tires though!

I myself am looking at a handful of Tires for Replacement of the Pathetic Goodyears.... BFG are Pricey but these might fit my needs.... I will only need them for Tarmac - Snow - Ice! {The Generals are on my list as well}!

My dad just put those Rugged Terrains on his Ram and he really likes them so far. Very nice tread design. Wear remains to be seen.

Just piggybacking off of this thread because I am still undecided on which tire to get. Grabber AT2's are high on my list though. Anyway, it looks like General has rebates going that just started (April-mid May I believe). Just throwing that out there in case anyone is in the same boat as me. Happy Easter RAM owners!
