Well... as said they discontinued the ones mine came with for that issue, to get them replaced means getting the same lights every other sport has. Nothing I can do about it... it's either keep the lights that are hazing and burning or these.

I was just messing with you. Your truck looks good either way. I like the black ones, but I also like the contrast of the chrome ones. My previous 14 Sport and my current 16 Rebel both have the chrome projectors.

Holy crap. I just read through this thread from back when I was teasing the OP in my post #10. I do realize that sarcasm does not translate well in text, but really?...do you really think that I thought your whole truck was ruined by just the chrome bezel in the projectors? I thought you would see the sarcasm in that. Anyway, I truly apologize for hurting anyone's feelings by that one sentence. I come from a looooooong line of military and I've gotten very used to sarcasm and thick skinned men and women.

Sorry about your black projectors. Ram started replacing those, on a case by case basis, almost as soon as the first Rebel rolled off the assembly line a couple yrs ago. The sun hits the projector lens magnifying it on the other side melting the black bezel. The chrome bezel just reflects that energy away.

Same here. Glad somebody said it.

I think the op's truck looks great with the black lights....they look a helluva lot better with his issue than the guys with water condensation.

My R/T 2015 has the black lights and I have not noticed this issue, how many miles on your truck when this issue popped up? My truck has a tad over 10,000 miles, oh your truck loud just fine.

Mine had 10,700 when my parts guy pointed it out ( he noticed before me ) and it was already pretty bad then so it had to have started a few thousand before that probably 7k at least, maybe sooner depending on how fast it got there. I have a few other buddies with the all black projector housing and theirs were doing it as well. One decided his wasn't too bad yet and is waiting, the other had his replaced.

No worries man, I can roll with the best in sarcasm and all that, I just haven't been around on here enough to get use to anyone and how they are so it came off the opposite lol.

F! Those black projectors were the ****! I was gonna question why the new 2018 HD Night Editions at the Chicago Auto show had the black quads instead of the projectors. Sad day.. & I would have been a hell of a lot more dramatic than you! Black > Chrome every day of the week

Plus for what you pay for the truck brand new, would everything being perfect be too much to ask? Too bad they aren't going to put the time into R&D & perfect the headlight, instead of scrapping it all together.

I agree! I love the total black housing with no chrome, I hate that it had that issue. So from that show did you take that they are getting rid of the projectors? Or at least in some way I guess? I hope not, I love the look of them, I just think they need to definitely go LED's already and stop the halogen lights.

Also my other point, 50k on this truck and I loved how it was when I bought it, things happen and there will always be issues but like you said, it sucks big ones.

Now that I look again. They also unveiled a Copper Sport, which had the new black projectors w/ the chrome piece. So they must be keeping the headlights, hallelujah. Curious to why they didn't include them on the HD Night models.

Because the projectors only come on the higher trim level trucks. Originally the only black lights they had were the projectors so the 1500 Express models with the blackout package came with those. But, then they came out with the black quads and started using them on the lower tier trucks that needed black lights.

When you take it in, I wonder if there's a chance to get the new lights and keep the old....highly doubt it

Well I use to work at the dealership, it's a smaller set up... but I know everyone there and friends with the parts guy. He told me he would leave them boxed up in the back but if they don't ask for them back ( it's happened in the past ) he would call me and I could come pick them up and keep them. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Ok so I had my headlights replaced due to an apparent issue where the sun would reflect off of the projector and it would cause a burning and crinkling of the plastic in said spot. Chrysler acknowledged the issue when it was submitted for replacement, and whoever it was that my parts guy was dealing with told him that is the main reason Chrysler discontinued the all black projector housing.
I hate losing the original lights, the more black I could have on my truck the better, I was never a fan of the chrome/fake chrome look, especially on this truck. The burning also somehow was causing a brown haze around the top of the light that managed to get worse over time and was very noticeable, and just plain ugly... the truck cost too much to just shrug it off as no big deal and live with it.
So, if any of you have this set ( if you care ) you can check yours and see if that issue is going on with yours as well. Overall I'm glad there were no issues in getting them replaced, and that they acknowledged the issue. ( Edit )

Discontinued? My 17 has them the truck is only a 2 months old from the factory. How are they discontinued?

The set with the black projector housing are discontinued, not the lights themselves. They discontinued the all black projector housings due to the burning issue, not the ones with the chrome in them.

Oooh I see it now. Weird I never noticed them in all black before. I like them better in chrome. Gives them more definition. Black you can't see all of the little details as good

The one difference I can point out now that I've had both is the chrome set appear brighter, even if only by a little which I figure has to do with the reflectiveness of the chrome.

Nice looking truck too!. I'm jealous they're offering more of the powder coated wheels now... Wish they had for mine.

Yes I love them too. I've had 2 people offer me money for them already. I don't even want to buy aftermarket wheels these are perfect

Dang really? I WAS going to buy a set from Mopar but I found a place around here who will do it ( and good ) for $450 total so I think that's the plan. Going to buy tires soon and everyone keeps asking why I want to keep stock wheels... I love the sport wheels truthfully, they look nice and even more so in black like that.
