Haven’t posted on here in a while but I’m having an extreme headache right now. I’m currently rebuilding my entire truck after getting into an accident a couple months ago due to an Amazon van running into it and completely damaging the whole passenger side of my truck. It’s completely damaged from the passenger front door all the way to the bed and including the passenger side mirror, running boards, etc.

Anyways that isn’t why I’m posting this thread, the reason why is because I’ve been working on my tailgate (it was dented and chipped from past incidents which we don’t talk about) and my truck is a 2016 Limited, so it has the chrome Ram letters (which I’m ALSO replacing since the chrome bubbled up), but I hate the chrome trim under it that says “Limited” on the left and “4x4” on the right. I really thought I could just remove it and call it a day, like if it was just held on by adhesive just like the door moldings that were on my truck previously that said “Limited” as well.

After removing the letters, I found out that DODGE likes to make s*** complicated and decided to make it where there is HOLES in the tailgate for the letters to clip onto. After doing more research, I found out that the chrome trim under the letters (what I want to remove) HAS HOLES TOO!

That leads me here because I think the chrome trim is ugly, just puts WAY too much chrome in my face, but now knowing that there’s just gonna be holes there, it really p***** me off. Any advice?

I can think of a few options off the top of my head. If you don’t want any badges you can weld up the holes and repaint the tailgate. Or you could just paint the chrome badges whatever color you want. Be sure to rough up the chrome first so the paint will not just peel off. Some people just spray them with plasti-dip. Or you can probably find back badges to replace them with.

Honestly starting to think about just leaving it. Just really sucks Dodge did that. I’ll update if I change my mind.

Why buy a limited if you don't like shinney?, I do:)

I love everything about it being a Limited except the s*** ton of chrome on it. It looks weird in my opinion, especially for just a tailgate.

I have the letters off of it right now and I just did a polish on the tailgate itself, but even without the letters it looks weird.

Opposed to chinesium? Prices fluctuate and can be found cheaper but here are some options:

Looks way better then a blue oval ;)
I like it, but then have a good look at the door pillars on mine.
I have colored bumpers and such on the sport model. it just had the ram head.

It was the best deal by far when I needed a truck, looked at good used , any low milage was too much, this was year end and about the same price as a good used.

I've seen 3 trucks now around here that have switched and flipped the letters around to spell "war"on the tailgate...to each his own i guess...
Looks odd to me
