I installed my speakers this weekend. Did the two back doors no problem. Did the dash speakers no problem. Then did the front doors...left one no problem, right one ...big problem. My hand with screwdriver slipped and poked a hole in the foam surround. I still can't believe I did this. A brand new out of the box Kicker 6.5''. I have installed many speakers and never had this happen.
Can this be glued together with gorrilla glue. I'm not even sure if the manufacture will replace it.
On another note it sounds very clear and quite bright up front. I might just have to eat this cost and purchase a pair of Kicker Mopar 6x9's for the fronts.
Real disappointed in my slip up doing this install.

Defecation occurs. You can try the gorilla glue but what might work better is a light film of latex.

The brightness is caused by the tweets bouncing off the glass. It happens when you upgrade to a more detailed (i.e., better than stock) speaker.

I have had great success improving the sound with aftermarket units by moving the tweeters into the door sail panel or upper door panel. Here's what I did with my MegaCab:

I did the same thing with my 300 SRT8. I haven't touched the audio in the 2014 Ram...yet.

Ahh man, it happens. Been there, done that a few times. Worst
Years ago we would liquid nails subwoofer surrounds and not look back. :favorites13:

I do not know if this works......

From fishing experience and getting holes in neoprene waders, I use UV Wader Repair. Here is a link to the product.

I know if I ever put a hole in a speaker, this is what I will try. You have nothing to lose at this point but I can tell you, the stuff works and is flexible and stays sealed.

Thanks Guys,
I have been fortunate to have this speaker RMA'd. I actually did the swap this afternoon.
Now have to play some to break them in. I still can't believe I did that. Will not happen again. Once was enough. Will see if replacing the stock sub with the Kicker upgrade is in the near future.

I've used foam repair kits from Simply Speakers for my home speakers and the results were fantastic. It's worth trying to do a repair before shelling out big bucks on new speakers. They'll also do the repairs for you but it's only worth it if they're really nice speakers, IMO. They have very good instructional vids to guide you.

Rubber cement or some clear silicone will fix it. Lots of guys use this to fix the foam surrounds.
