So, got about 23 dime size dents between the hood and roof. None visible anywhere else. Insurance cut a check but advised not getting it fixed.

Truck is a lease thru Ally Auto - ive read thru the policy, and unless im missing it does this damage not require repair? They discuss dents/scrsatches over 2” wide. These are tiny dents with no paint damage.

anyone been in my shoes before and know if repair required? Just under a year left on lease. Thanks

I think you'd only know by talking to the leasing company. If you can see them, deal with it now or deal with it later. If the leasing company says they have to be fixed you can go back to your insurance company with that.

Most leasing companies go with anything beyond normal wear and tear is on you. Like above ask the leasing company if they say you are ok I would get it in writing otherwise turn in time you could be up ***** creek without a paddle

And then you also might have a timing issue to contend with when returning the lease to add more stress. The good feeling of having that money from insurance will probably be long forgotten by the time you deal with it at turn in time.

I think you chose to take insurance's recommendation as Ally's word...and you missed part of the dent size story

From their website;

Individual occurrences of damage 2" or less in diameter WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HAIL DAMAGE AND PUNCTURES.

I've leased a few trucks before - you're going to get hammered at the end of the lease if you don't fix the hail damage. That is not going to qualify as normal wear and tear. Don't listen to your insurer, they are full of crap.

Now, if you're going to buy it out at lease end, that's a different story - in that case, you can do what you want.

I am in the group that says, you got the money get it fixed.

I never understood getting a payout and not fixing the issue, be it a home, car, whatever.

I'm waiting on a call back from Ally, the local dealer had no comment on the issue. I don't believe my insurance is trying to scam the leasing company, nor am I. Their point was storm season has just begun, don't get it fixed if you don't have to because chances are high it will see hail again. The damage it currently has is minimal, not like the thing looks like a golf ball, you can barely see most of the dents, i think the high heat we've had has popped some of them out already.

You want to really find out? Do what the leasing company will likely do before signing off. They will take it to a dent repair company and they will like a black light on a truck and i guarantee you they will find way more dents on there than you think there is. I've been there and it was shocking. I get the insurance company's point, but they obviously have nothing to do with when you need to turn the vehicle in. Your initial post read like you were counting on the leasing company agreeing with the insurance company on not fixing it. No one thinks anyone is scamming anyone. You asked the question, I looked up and found a critical missing detail regarding liability on hail damage. Its pretty clear to me what the outcome will be.
