Hi everyone have gone through a bunch of threads on heated seats but none seem to be the same issue I am having.lol
The problem:
I bought this 2014 ram sport with heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel.Everything worked great up till a couple of weeks ago.Now the drivers side switch lights up,the lights stay on for 5-10 minutes but no heat coming from seat.the passenger seat works great, both cooled seats work great and the heated steering wheel.
The question:
I'm suspecting either the module or the seat element.I do have alphaobd and it isnt giving any codes.I am new to the ram world and very mechanically inclined. Just dont want to go buy new module or element and those not be the issue.looking more for a direction to go to diagnose or if anyone has had that issue that might have some insight.
Thank you everyone have a good day

Well, start with the easy stuff. Switch lights up, so there is power top that. Check for power at the heating element. My bet is, that the issue is the heating element, due to the fact the light goes out after 5-10 minutes. It could however just be a loose connection at the element. They have a safety cutout on the element for over heat or shorts.

Thank you for the response dean2.im thinking the same thing now.like I said fairly new to ram and alphaobd went out and played with alpha found the spot to test amps going to seats and steering have 1.50a going to driver but 2.50a to passenger so think over weekend pull seat to see wires.

Why not start with easier things like connectors and wiring?

Connector pins get corroded or displaced, and don't make good contact.

You can download the PDF manual and word search on a PC using 'Control F'.

Check the attached PDF for seat heater diagnostics.

I think that is the plan but given he can see low amp draw by the drivers seat element I think he is figuring he will need to get at the element so wants to wait till he has time to go end to end.

Did you actually scan the seat module, or just look at the BCM?
