Hello all, I'm new here, just waiting to pick up my 2021 1500 classic warlock, and I've been reading and I have spoken to one of your members about that infamous hemi tick.
I've read that you can change the oil pump to resolve that issue?
aftermarket oil pump, or raising the idle.

I'm interested in modifying the truck, but only slightly .

What tuners are available for this ? as when I go online to check its not giving me a straight answer.
bully dog? Edge juice?

A little background about me:
In the past I held a commercial license for tri axle trucks ( I drove a cement mixer and a tri- axle dump )
afterwards I went into the automotive industry.
I have been in the automotive industry for 17 years, started from the bottom and I have previously been a mechanic :mario: but never for Chrysler so these engines are new to me.
I have worked for Chrysler , Mitsubishi, Honda , VW, Hyundai, Lexus, BMW, and Volvo. I recently retired from automotive due to the stress lol if you know you know .

Anyways, I'm looking forwards to enjoying this truck and maybe making some new friends on here.
I always like meddling with things lol so I definitely won't be keeping it bone stock.

Any, and all advice much appreciated :favorites37:

Welcome to Ram Forum.

HP Tuners look to be a popular route for Hemi owners.

I still have another year of warranty after next January, before I start considering a tuner.

To keep me happy and smiling until that date, I tweak the BCM with AlfaOBD and have installed a Pedal Commander accelerator controller.

If money were no object, I would own a Banks Pedal Monster but the deal on the Pedal Commander was too good and I'm very happy with my experience every day since the installation.

The search utility in the upper-right corner or your favorite search engine with ramforum.com after the search parameters will help you discover endless amounts of information here.

You will discover the higher capacity oil pump concept has been abandoned by many as a prevention method for the famed Hemi Tick.

There are several good threads on the Hemi Tick and Rick @Wild one has a couple of excellent YouTube links on the topic.

A good synthetic oil with a quality aftermarket oil filter on a regular maintenance schedule are a popular mitigation program.

I also use LubeGard Bio/Tech engine oil protectant. There's an enlightening thread on the topic.

Have fun exploring Ram Forum and your 'new to you' Hemi.

Welcome, from Ontario, too!
I've got a 23' Warlock 4th Gen and love it!
You'll have a great time with yours.

Personally, I'd leave tuning as a very last thing, if at all, but that's me!
Especially if only doing minor bolt on mods.

** Edit ** - However, if you're going to tune it then HP Tuners is the best way.
You'll need another factory computer to unlock, or send yours in and they unlock it.
But, were I tuning, I'd purchase a new unlocked one and keep my OEM factory one stock and as a backup in case it was ever needed.

If you want to do some simple mods, and "start fresh" maintenance so you really get a great ownership experience, perhaps consider these:
- oil catch can (Moroso makes a nice one) - this is a huge proactive maintenance thing and will aid in keeping your throttle body and intake manifold much cleaner
- new spark plugs
- clean or replace the PCV valve
- remove the throttle body and give it a thorough cleaning
- get on a good synthetic oil & synthetic media oil filter strategy/schedule for your HEMI
- perform a transmission fluid & filter change (you can also upgrade to a PPE trans-pan with replaceable filters that has up to two more pints of fluid and aids in cooling the trans fluid better)
- this is also a great time to install the @caulk04 transmission cooler bypass valve (this will reduce your trans temps by up to 30 deg/c and the engine temps 3 to 5 deg/c) - I've got this upgrade and it's a great thing for our transmissions as they like to run hot, especially in the summer!
- remove the serp belt and inspect or replace - check the water pump/idler/tensioner pulleys to ensure everything is in top condition
- perhaps a front & rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid change?
- have a custom y-pipe mandrel bent and welded up (Hot Rod Scott's in Etobicoke is amazing!!!) - this is one of the biggest restrictions on our HEMI engines - research it and look at the OEM y-pipe pics ;)
- select a nice cat-back system as that will compliment the custom y-pipe and provide the sound you prefer
- perhaps look to upgrade the suspension (Bilstein B8 6112 front struts and their 5100 rear shocks) - https://bilsteincanada.com/product/...rdHjOR4iId-ZPH7mzvVcLyaflTtCELHS8dMaU7aOpwvS2
I've purchased here and they are great Canadian distributors to work with

wow! thanks for all that info!! Definitely pointed me in the right direction and literally answered ALL my questions that I had lol. I'm going to hold off on the tuning and computer for now until the 2 year warranty is done, for now I'll do the oil catch can, intake, and tranny cooler bypass valve as long as that one won't give them an excuse to void warranty on the tranny. The truck is being saftied before I pick it up, so the basics should be taken care of. I plan on using 91 fuel like i normally do, good quality oil every 5k kms, and will change that pcv valve if needed. I will seriously think about hot rod scotts for the Y-Pipe.
Thanks for the advice.

IF you do have the Hemi tick, it's not necessarily a lifter or bad cam lobe. It could be a broken exhaust manifold bolt, or two. Either replace them yourself (not easy but do-able) or take it to a shop that knows Rams. My shop stripped the threads in the heads on my '14 Sport and after tossing them thousands to get it right, I went to Home Depot and bought slightly longer stainless bolts which went in deeper and caught good threads. So lesson learned; I spent about $2500 to not have it fixed, and then about $12 fixing it myself
Good luck and I have no doubt that you'll love your new ride!
