Forgot if I've made a thread about this or not before, but I need help. My dads truck is an 06 Mega Cab with the 5.9. What is the absolute BEST programmer for it? Wanting big performance gains, but even better mileage.

I would only use a smarty or an H&S tuner
Don't expect to just put a tuner on and start running a 400+ hp tune, there are a few supporting mods you need to do as well including a set of gauges(mini maxx or black maxx would have your gauges)

When you ask what the best programmer is your stirring up a controversial topic lol
In the end you need to research the tuners and decide what's best for your needs not one some guy on a forum told you to run cause his buddies friend has one on his truck haha

I've been doing research but theres just to many different opinions. I was hoping to get a first hand account of someone on here with a Smarty or whatever else. Think its possible to get 5+ mpg's with certain programmers?

No
Going by this guys are averaging 15.3 mpg in 06 2500: 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 MPG Reports | Fuelly
Your asking for a 33%+ increase in fuel economy
Just isn't going to happen especially of the truck is bone stock other wise, try an intake and straight pipe exhaust if you havent already

Already did intake and exhaust, might look at the Smarty... found one on craigslist for $300
