98 5.2 turn no start.
Pulled plugs. Lots of fuel. Saturated even. I tried ether. No change.
Changed distributor with known working one. No change.
Im now leaning towards computer so im wondering if it can be reprogrammed or has to be replaced? If programming is possible, does it have to be in the truck?
Any and all ideas and or suggestions welcome.
Smart asses too!
Thanks in advance!

For the amount of effort required, pop the cap and make certain it's clean and dry inside.
And, inspect the contacts on the points for buildup & corrosion.
Clean up the points, if necessary.

These are part of the basics for a carborated vehicle.

Please keep in mind this is Tequila Monday.... has been for a while now.
Anyway,
Injectors are firing. Plugs when pulled are full.of fuel. Spark is present at #1 plug. Compression good. Fuel.pressure while on the low side, is within parameters. Again, dist was replaced with a known working one. No change.
I talked to the local computer guru and after explaining all of the above. He doesnt think its the computer. But, for 235 bucks he can tell me definitely no...
Anybody got a 1964 truck for sale under 10k?

If you have air, fuel, ignition spark and exhaust flow then this thing should run. Plain and simple.

Have you verified that you have a good, hot spark from the coil wire in to the distributor? And then through the cap/rotor and out at the end of the plug wires?

What does the inside of the distributor cap and the rotor look like? Nice and clean or corrosion?

I'm assuming that if you have fuel in the cylinders that the ASD Relay is staying engaged while cranking? You can remove the cover of the relay to visually inspect the relay contact operator while cranking?

Have you checked for any DTC's in the PCM?

How long has this thing been sitting? Or is it a daily driver?

Have you just recently replaced the battery?

Have you removed the IAC Valve from the rear of the throttle body for cleaning and inspection?

Is the IAC Valve stuck closed and blocking the airflow passageway?

Have someone crank the motor for you while covering the exhaust pipe with your hand. Do you feel exhaust flow?
If not, break the bolts loose at the head pipes and attempt to start it.

Just to follow up. After much gnashing of teeth and throwing of tools the culprit turned out to a completely blocked catalytic.
Cut it open, cleaned it out put it back together and got on down the road.
