I got a 2001 dodge ram 1500. 5.9 magnum. And when I accelerate, it kinda surges at 2100 RPMS. Like, it'll jump up to about 2300 RPMS,then back down to 2000, then up to 2100 RPMS again. It doesn't do this at any other range. Before and after that, it's perfectly fine. At first I thought it could be a fuel pump or injectors but when I mash wide open on the gas, it doesn't do it at all. And it only does it when the truck is warmed up. You ever heard of anything like that?02861d2d05b717c34d796450f0d0af82.jpg

yep. Could be a few things in the transmission. Could have broken the infamous snap ring and have a pressure surge, could be the pressure governor, could be the TCC lockup solenoid, could be the pressure sensor.

It's cheap enough to replace the sensor and solenoid pack and toss a new trans filter in it for a test. if it keeps doing it, it could be the broken snap ring, or it could be a torque converter clutch starting to slip.

Mine has done a similar thing for as long as I can remember. If I hold the RPMs at around 1,900 in third gear, the truck will slightly surge between that and 2,000 RPM. It's particularly noticeable via hearing courtesy of my loud exhaust.

I've had my transmission fluid and filter changed twice, and this last summer, I did the third round myself. No difference in any case.

I had also replaced my ignition coil earlier this year to resolve a heavy-load misfire problem and I noticed that the surging had slightly reduced, but it's still noticeable.

Perhaps worth noting, but the problem had cropped up sometime even before I reflashed the computer with Ryan's tune. The tune made no difference in the surging.

I had a similar surge on my 2001 and believe it or not, just unplugging and plugging in the PCM 2-3 times fixed it. I am thinking it was a poor ground connection on one of the pins.
Might be worth a try.
