As the url implies, this is Canadian site/pricing.

But it's the 6.4 BGE and not the SRT that I'd prefer. How hard is it to bump up the power on the BGE, is it all in the tune or are there other differences (like cam)?

Do I bite the bullet on this? I'd need a mechanic to swap it in for me as this is way above my pay grade.

There's alot of differances, for one it's the 10:1 compression 6.4,and doesn't have the glass 10.9:1 glass pistons the SRT versions have, the heads on the truck 6.4 are basically Hellcat heads if you upgrade the springs and valves, the cam is totally differant and is geared towards torque, not horsepower.
On paper it doesn't look like it's a huge upgrade over the 5.7,but in reality it's a huge step up,as it's a torque monster motor, and makes one hell'va good upgrade in a 1500 especially if you tow, throw in the fact it's perfectly happy on 87 octane, where the SRT version of the BGE needs at least 91,and is actually happier on 93/94 then it is on 91.
All 6.4's starting in 2019 use the BGE block,so there's no differance between the 2 as far as the blocks go.
You could stick a mild cam in it,but it's still a 10:1 compression engine. It has the most robust pistons of all the later model naturally aspirated VVT Hemi's,and it'll handle boost better then a 5.7 or SRT 6.4 will, before needing a piston/rod swap.
It'll tow like gang busters and will turn a 3.21 geared 8 speed 1500 into a tire spinning monster, plus it has enough bottem end torque to keep your 8 speed in 8th gear alot more then a 5.7 does.
If you cam it,don't go to big on the cam, otherwise you'll kill alot of it's off idle torque, and that's where the engine shines,is it's off idle torque.

That's worth a read for sure, appreciate it!

Do you know if the BGE can be tuned a bit? So stock is what, 405 hp... any ability to eek out a little more with just a tune and no parts? I'd definitely do an MDS delete before installing, but other than that not sure I want to start putting money into parts which is why I was leaning more towards the SRT. I do love the idea of more low end torque, that's definitely my driving style vs high revving which my engine rarely sees.

Do a set of long tube headers and the 6.4 truck intake manifold if it doesn't come with an intake, with a tune those 2 things will probably bring it up about 435 or more horsepower and probably bring it up to at least 450 lb-ft,and it'll blow the rear tires off anytime you want to show off ;) With a small cam it'll probably be closer to 450 hp or more depending on what cam you stick in it,a few guys have actually stuck the 6.4 non-mds factory cam from a 6.4 Challenger with the 6 speed in them, and apparently it's not a bad upgrade, but i've never done that cam on the truck 6.4,so i'm only going with what they've told me,but it's another option to consider.
The heads are where you'll want to spend some money,as they need a spring upgrade and the lighter valves used in the SRT or Hellcat heads, the stock valves are indestructable, but they're heavier then hell, and aren't condusive to running much over the factory 5,000 rpm the truck engines are limited to,you'll want to upgrade to valves and springs that'll handle at least 6200 rpm if you plan to stick a cam in it

This is actually a pretty decent article on the truck 6.4,except they have the wrong compression ratio listed. It's 10:1 not the 9.5:1 they list it at,but the rest of the article is worth reading.

I going to have to get a dictionary for all these abbreviations. I'm learning a lot of them but... Cut me some slack Wild. This is my first Ram. What is BGE?

BGE stands for "Big Gas Engine" and is what Ma Mopar called the early truck blocks, which they later repurposed to become the engine block the Hellcats use. There are a few varieties of the BGE block in the later Hellcats, but the early 15 to 18 Hellcats basically used the same engine block as the 6.4 trucks have used since they were introduced in 2014,a year before the Hellcats came out
