ok so yesturday i got a 02 4dr ram 4x4 and took it to get quoted for a leveling kit since its our family truck i cant go straight to a 6" lift but i wanted something that would look decent. thanks guys
my questions are
1- i had read something about once you go over 2" on leveling kit it makes it a bit more uneven but the guy at the shop said its best to go with a 3" cuz its makes a more reliable and looks better.

2- does this affect gas or anything at all? i know i'll need to get the alignment after this is done right?

3- on a 2" leveling kit installed he quoted 250 installed for a daystar kit...does that seem right?

On that year you have the torsion keys just crank them up. Put the front end up on jack stands crank the one side to desired height keep tack on how many turns do the same to the other side. I used a tape on my f150 to get the same height. Put it on the ground drive it around the block then check everything again. You are going to need an alignment afterwards

If its 4x4 you'll have torsion keys keep in mind the more you crank them the more of an angle your going to put on your cv axles, you will also wear ball joints and tie rods quicker

It may barely affect gas. I got a 3" Suspension lift and bigger tires on my truck, I didnt notice a difference.

And the price sounds about right, my 3" was $300 for installlation

About $250 is the difference. There are a ton of posts relating to this topic, a quick search will yeild the answers that you are looking for. To make a long story short, buying aftermarket torsion bar keys is an absolute waste of money. The only thing that aftermarket keys allow you to do is raise the front end higher than about 2.5" and essentially make for front end stiff as a brick. The ride quality will be exactly the same if you crank the stock keys 2" vs buying aftermarket keys and cranking those 2". Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that aftermarket keys will maintain the factory soft ride once they are cranked. All that you are doing when you "level" the front end of the truck is adding pre-load to the torsion bars.

I've cranked many torsion bars over the years ranging from Honda's to Chevy's, Fords and Dodges...Even installed some aftermarket keys along the way, which were removed shortly after and replaced with the stock keys.
