Don't have to go anywhere - 2014 Ram Sport still relatively new to me. No indication of overheating, but cruising into 3 days forecast as 106°, 112°, 100° and hotter on the road, when does it make sense to just hunker down? On another site, a familiar user talks about performance reduced on his high performance car at 115°. Thoughts? Yes, the truck A/C seems to work just fine.

I don't think you'll get to temps the vehicle won't handle. We've got at least one member in Qatar and from personal experience it hits 120+ F there.
.
And another in Belize, el guapo phil or something.
What is the guys name is Qatar?
I've been curious and keep thinking about that, but haven't posted anything. Anyone heard from him in the last 5 months or so?

Triple digit is unpleasant but I'm more worried about my fat a$$ having a heat stroke than any mechanical issues. If those kind of temperatures were an issue then the entire southwest US would be shut down half the year.

I don't remember the guys name from Qatar but I haven't seen anything from either one of them in a little while.

IF you are towing, the type of grille on the truck can hurt cooling - a sport should have the limiting grille style (looks like a bunch of bars going across it).

If towing in that type of heat, a honeycomb grille will give you the most cooling airflow, with the 2018 sport grille next, and lastly the Big Horn style grille.

I have towed with all 3 and the Big Horn definitely limits cooling above 95 deg. when towing.

I don't remember, but remember
Knightjp is in UAE.

Thanks, he was actually the one I was thinking about. The forum shows he was last "here" on May 30. I have a hard time even imagining trying to survive that mess.

I really don't know as much about that area as I probably should, obviously.

As Paco's stated if you still have the original Sport grill in your truck,it's a big factor in how much airflow makes it to the rad. If you ever stumble across the open honeycomb style grill it's a far better grill for cooling. You can also remove the center slats on the active shutters if your truck has the 8 speed, flex them in the middle towards the front and they'll just pop out, leave 1 top and 1 bottom shutter in place on both sides, and you won't have any codes pop up for them.
Here's a couple pic's of my old 14 Sport, showing both the stock original Sport grill and a pic or 2 of what it looked like after i replaced the center of the grill with the better flowing honeycomb grill, which also looks a lot better then the original grill ever did ;)

There is no temperature I would be worried about or take any extra precautions....assuming the cooling system is in decent shape and working like it should.

Here ya go

Towing the tandem 7x14 with 2, 900 lb Harleys across North Dakota today, headwind and 86. Lots of 6s and 7s, very few 8s to maintain the posted speed limit. Warlock is bringing the pain on fuel economy. Holding it's on every where else

Unsure how the ZF 8 speeds handle heat, I know Jesse Caulk's thermostat bypass kit is popular, though. I'd for sure look into that before taking the truck into blast furnace heat. And also be sure you have all synthetic lubricants in all the sumps.

I damn sure know the legacy Chrysler RFE's can't take the heat. One of the very first things I did was tear out that pencil-thin, unreliable transmission oil cooler thermostat. All is as it was with automatic transmissions for decades prior to miniscule fuel economy improvement campaigns by USG. (that destroy our vehicles in exchange)

If you've ever seen the aftermath of a wildfire or even a really bad accident you've seen what it takes for vehicles to turn to a puddle of metal and plastic.
The truck will survive!

As for the human element, as you get older heat related problems increase dramatically for some.
Take appropriate precautions!
