Ok, well it looks like I do have the 8.4A according to my VIN. Just to make sure, I won't lose the nav if I update with the 8.4A version correct?

It shouldn't but I can't confirm that first hand since instead of the $500 for NAV I bought a bayou goat mount for $24 and use waze on my S4 lol.

Alright after reading all these pages.. is there a way to tell what version im at before i run the update?

also if i had the dealer turn on the camera will the update erase that at all?

I was able to negotiate the nav for free.

Did the update with the RA3 and it fixed all of the problems I was having. Thanks for the help. Oh, and I still have nav.

I had several problems installing the update and I wanted to share them all in an effort to help. Ok, first I was having trouble extracting the file. I could download the application that would extract the file but I never could actually extract the file. I realized that I was using google chrome and not internet explorer. When I switched to internet explorer, I had no problem extracting the file and saving it to my external flash drive. You have to follow the tutorial instructions to a T. It helped me to open up the tutoral in a different browser window so I could reference each step as I moved along.

After I figured that out, I went out to my truck and put the flash drive in. The radio recognized that the update was available. I hit yes and started the update. about 20% of the way through I get an error that the .iso was not recognized. I was able to work through this by re downloading the file on a different flash drive. I have no idea why this worked but it did.

Also, A note about uconnect technical support....my experience has been that they really don't know much about anything. When I was having trouble downloading the file, I called them for assistance. They could not help me at all and told me I needed to take my truck to the dealer. I got off the phone and realized I was not using internet explorer and was successful at downloading the file. But I was still getting an error in my truck when the file was updating. I called them back for help. They still said I needed to take it to the dealer and she had no idea that customers even had the ability to do these updates on our own. She said I could really mess up my truck this way and refused to help me any further. So I took it to the dealer. I left my truck there all day last friday. I even told them I specifically wanted the update 13.38.52. When I picked up my truck later all they had done was reset my radio. I had the same version 13.31.15 or whatever the old one was. They told me I had the latest version on there. I was like, wtf? Its on your own website. How can you not know this? Anyway, he told me he would call me back monday (today)....well, I went home and used a different flash drive and it worked.....so I hope this helps. I plan on emailing the ucconect update site to the dealer so they can understand.

After updating to the latest version I now receive a nag screen about 4 or 5 minutes after starting my truck that informs me that my YELP subscription has expired. I don't have any subscriptions except WIFI on occasion. I called UConnect and they informed me that with the new upgrade I will continue to receive the Nag screen until I do subscribe. They said there is nothing they can do about it. They said I would have to revert back to an older software version. Anybody else having a problem? Other than the dealer how can I get an older version to revert to? Thank for any help.

I don't believe they are correct (Uconnect phone reps know very little and guess very often). I have no subcription to yelp and I have no nag screen. I also have the latest update like you. Have you tried subscribing to yelp? It is prob. free

The only way I could stop the Yelp subscription page from popping up after engine start or after the mystery black screen reboot was to remove my truck from the Uconnect store. I never use any of the Apps except WIFI on occasion . If I need WIFI access later I'll reconnect the service then.

I'm not sure about the camera but this is how you get to your software version:

1) Press the “Apps” button on the lower right hand corner of the touch screen. Note for some vehicles this will be a “Settings” button. If you have a “Settings “ button, Press the “Settings” button

2) Press the “Tools” button on the left side of the touch screen

3) Press the “Settings” button in the middle of the touch screen.

4) Scroll down by pressing the arrow on the lower right hand corner of the screen until ‘System Information’ is displayed. Press “System Information” on the bottom of the screen

5) The software version level will be displayed on the first line of the screen. Is your software version 13.38.52 or higher?
Yes - > Your software is current. No further action required.
No - > There is a software update available for your Uconnect system.

Anyone from Canada getting access to messaging with their UConnect?

I updated my truck last week, still don't have the messaging feature and I am using a Iphone 5 with IOS7 on thr Bell network.

Any thoughts??

I can play recieved messages over the speakers and reply using preset messages. I am not able to send my own created by voice messages ofc

According to the gentleman I spoke to at Uconnect, voice text isn't compatible with the Apple iOS, at least not yet. I have a 4S and I'm not able to voice text either. He suggested I continue to check for updates because they're constantly upgrading the system.

I see the same error "Sorry ... Encountered an Application Error" and I can not enter my vin and download the firmware. Please guys help me out, my last 8 vin number DS706121 download the firmware for me and put in a different place. I will be very grateful. I have a radio with navigation. Thanks in advance.

Click on "System Updates". You'll be redirected within 3 seconds. Just enter the last 8 characters of your VIN and you should be good to go.

BigHorn453 posted links to the updates on page one of this thread. I can't share the update because I have the Uconnect 8.4an RA4 and you have the 8.4a RJ3.

If BigHorn453's links aren't working and you're not able to do the update on your own with the links I provided, I suggest you go to the dealer.

There is a Service Bulletin (or RRT) in regards to the radio enhancements, see below...
