So, I have an opportunity to purchase a 2003 1500 Laramie 4x4 for $8000. The only issue I have is it has 140,000 miles on it. Everything appears to be up to standard on it, all parts working, no dents, etc. My question is, is this a good deal? I will accept all comments, positive or negative please. I would rather be properly informed and go another route than get a potentially poor deal.

Welcome! Is the truck inspected? You should also see if they will let you take it to your mechanic, have them look it over. As far the price...I would look at Kelly Blue Book, and perhaps Consumer Reports. Doesn't sound bad though.

Talk the price down a bit...around my area on Craigslist i have seen later models with way less miles for just a bit more than 8k...around 10k

When buying any used vehicle it is a good idea to get it checked out. Nowadays you can take it down to places like Firestone and for $25 they'll check it from bumper to bumper for you and give you a printout of the results.

As far as the miles go, I wouldn't worry about a measly 140k on a Hemi. Sure things wear out but you take that risk with any used vehicle. At least with a Hemi, it is made to be worked. I've got an 07 with 150k on it and still going strong.

Just get it checked out, then get all your fluids changed to Amsoil and you'll get another 140k out of her yet.

Welcome to the club bud, price can be talked about alill and depending on the build date 03 Hemi's did have a valve spring issue. The first runs were breaking springs and dropping the valves but that being said with that many miles it should have done it by now. Whats your plans for the truck?

Welcome to RF... I'm gonna agree with the others and say it's a little high on the price for an 03 model... try talkin him down. It's be worth more of the $8k if it had lower miles in my opinion. I paid $10k for my 04 with 55k miles on it almost a yr ago.

Hello and welcome, I would check out some other trucks you might be able to find one with less miles on it. I put a lot of miles on a year so im always looking for low mile cars and trucks. But im sure that the truck is fine. take it to have it looked at by someone you know.

Welcome to rf. Idk if this helps you at all but I have a 2004 laramie with 140,000 miles on it and it runs great. Definitely get it checked out before you buy though.
