Hello,

I have a 2012 4.7L and like the subject says - I would like some 4.10 gears. How much should I pay a shop? What parts should I need. One shop quoted me $800, and I can't remember if that was labor only or the parts themselves plus labor. Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine paid $1000 to a shop on his 07 Dakota. That was gears and labor.

Shop around and find the best combo of parts & labor vs reviews/reputation. You're kinda stuck on this one. Sometime spaying a little more to a better shop works out better.

If you have a 4WD, and are asking about prices, you probably won't pay what it costs.

If you have a 2WD, I'd guess about $1000 if you throw some sort of limited slip device in.

If you do 4.10s, you will LOVE them. Guaranteed.

Just go 4.56 you should expect 800-1200 per axle for parts and labor

He has a 2012,that means if he's 4X4 his front diff will be the welded ZF front diff, not so easy or cheap to go to 4.56's,as he'll have to source the earlier AAM front diff, corresponding brackets, including motor mount.front driveshaft etc.
If he's 4X4 he has 3 choices with the ZF front diff,3.21's / 3.55's and 3.92's

You said the shop IS charging you $1900. Does that mean you've pulled the trigger, and are having it done?

Yes, I put 1k down. I'm having it done next month. I thought long and hard about the 4.56's, but I want to keep some top end. Plus, I'm not sure I can go that size without it being more costly?

Same cost, I did mine in November, cruise set at 80 mph, tach reads 2600 rpm. Will run like this all day long without any problems. I went with a tru - trac it works very well. I’m sure either set of gears will make you grin, however 456s will make you look guilty of something. Ear to ear .

That hurts to read, my gas mileage is bad enough with 3.55s, LOL!

How’s performance?

Actually during the break in of the gears my mileage increased from about 18 to 20.5 mpg. However once broke in it has dropped a little , as it has become hard to not drive aggressively. It hauls ass. Much better then the old 355s did.

Also I just noticed you have the 4.7 ,I had one before . I would not hesitate to put 456s in , they will be much better with that engine. Do the 456s you will not regret them at all. Let us know how you enjoy your new gears !
