i have a 2016 express and gas cap message came on and message told me check cap. how do you reset it? do i have to go dealer and have them do it?

Just drive the truck after tightening the cap. The DTC is a "B" code, requiring 2 drive cycles to activate the light. It will reset as long as the next drive cycle monitors the EVAP system and all is OK.

You could also disconnect the battery for a while
