Ignition failure

Hey all,
2011 4500. Died driving down the road today. Cranks over , sometimes fast and sometimes click. Slop around key and doesnt return back ok. So I’m trying to find a new ignition but it seems complicated! Dealer is a grand for part. I don’t have power locks just an old style metal key. Everybody just has the All plastic keys with the lock buttons and I’m not sure the ignition is compatible since I don’t have any high trim features. I need a reasonable option just to get going. Called dealer and they even gave me part # for plastic button key. Help. TIA

I would never tell you to do this...BUT I have installed a toggle switch and a doorbell as 'ignition switch'

can you take a picture or the key and ignition? The good news is what they want to do is put a win module in it and you say you don't have one. Did they see the ignition and key when they quoted you a grand? You can bypass that just like a win module is my guess. Are you sure it isn't starter? Somehow you have a 2008 ignition cylinder, then stuff gets real easy.

Dodge Ram WIN module cheap fix (won’t start)

Instead of replacing WIN module just bypass the start function of it by using a push button switch wired into the start relay
