I could make it myself with tin foil. No ******* way I would spend $700 on that!

So they put an evaporator in your air box. Wouldn't that cause condensation/moisture problems??

From my take, basically they are using an a/c evaprator in the air box to cool the intake charge. This would be increadible in the summer and give you that 50*F performance on a 110*F day.

It is nothing new to the Superchaged Ford crowd, except they are using it to chill the water in their intercooler loop.

This was going to be part of my supercharged 4.7 build that hasn't happened yet.

The issues here are thermal induction and temperature gradient.

Water has a higher rate of thermal inductance than air. Water will quickly absorb and/or release heat. That's why a 72 degree day feels great, but a 72 degree shower feels "ice cold".

Also, the temperature gradient (range of, or difference in, temperature) plays a key role. The closer together the temperatures are, the less heat transfer occurs.

Blowing 90 degree air across a thin 50 degree line at high speed won't cause a lot of heat exchange (think cai). Blowing 150 degree air through a heat exchanger with 50 degree water (think intercooler) is exponentially more effective.

This intake is a scam, pure and simple.

While I agree with you, if you had an refigerant to liquid heat exchanger in-line with a storage resivoir and heat exchanger the size of a heater core, keeping the system chilled into the mid 30s, the system would be very effective in making ~40-50* F intake temperatures for several minutes, even at WOT with no input from the A/C system.

My Intake Air Temperature OFTEN reads 140+ around town, just FYI.

I spent some time in buildings that have water chillers for a/c, such as a hospital, that 40*F water sure can make a room chill below 65*F EASILY.

Yep, water is very effective. But the one there selling in the first post is garbage.

I'm making an air box carved out of dry ice with a liner inside to keep out the CO2. I'm planning on selling it for $1500. No warranty.

Sent from my old cellular telephone.
