So I have been kicking around the idea of getting rid of what little chrome is in the interior, I don't want to just paint it and had the idea to use VHT niteshade I had laying around from doing the tail lights...

I had a chrome license plate frame I took of the GF's car and cleaned it and just applied it no other prep. It laid down smooth but still kinda puddled like paint usually does over chrome... doesn't look bad, but not great. I forgot to snap a pick before I left for work this morn, but I will post a before and after.

My thoughts are try another similar product, but think the same effect of painting a perfectly smooth surface will still happen, also thinking of lightly sanding the chrome with a 300 grit but afraid that the milky muted chrome from sanding it will show through the tint effecting the desired look to faking black chrome.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Vinyl wrap?

figured it would hold up with the rubbing and also has that painted look. If I would replace it all with billet alum or stainless with the black and red stitching I think would look the best. but I think thats a whole interior redo adn not going that crazy... yet

There's a bit of a learning curve but with the help of YouTube and some patience the $89 kit did all of the dash my overhead console/ wiper arms washer fluid squirters and antenna plastic trim piece.

That doesn't look to bad... But I am also not a huge carbon fiber look fan.. a little subtle is nice... Ask the GF I am damn near impossible to please.

I think once I get some warmer weather or find a heated shop I'm going to VHT the chrome accents inside the cab... I think my test was due to a few factors... one being temps when sprayed.

I did some carbon fiber around the chrome trim on the middle floor console where my shifter is...I was getting such a bad glare from it. I'm happy with it.

I also messed around with some more carbon fiber trim around the dash, but it was a pain. I did remove some, and left some on.

If I had to it again, I would try spraying some plasti dip, but I would probly go back to the carbon fiber.

Take a look at SEM. They have some good products to change the color of your interior.

Rt hydro dipping has 100s of options really what I wanted was arctic digital camo but didn't want to pay the premium since it's not a stock option. Doesnt hurt to scroll their website at mydipkit.com from skulls to camo. Diamond plate it's all there. When you make a choice regardless of method post up some pics.

I did some tests with the VHT, I like how it came out minus the quick hack no prep job I did..

I think once the temps come up into painting area I will use a black diluted with thinner and paint them to tint them. This way they still have the "depth" of chrome but black tone to them... I may mess around and use a red tint to it also to bring a little more red from the outside to the inside.

Need to do a few test sprays with some red tint to see if I like that idea or not.

Oh and to add where Basham put the carbon, I'm planning on putting as black leather to match the dash with red stitching.

But just on the location of the radio bezel at the vents, the portion around the radio will remain plastic...

I may have to cut the bezel and make it 3 pieces to get the leather to wrap. then bolt it together from the backside to make it all 1 piece again. I havent worked out the logistics yet, this is just the design idea to dress up and make a one off custom interior that looks "factory"

Plasti Dip. Sticks to chrome, spays on like spray paint. Comes off easy if you don't like it. Many color options. Will hold up to wear and tear. CHEAP
