hey everyone so I'm window shopping for Ram 3/4 ton CTD trucks my Hemi just doesn't have the capabilities of what I need for a Ranch truck pulling Horses or bulls. I'm really hoping to get a diesel so that I can pull gooseneck trailers safely. now Im hoping to get an early 4th gen between 09-12 because I dont want to deal with the DEF or DPF or whatever that EPA scam is called. Ive posted a link to a 2012 CTD mega cab 6'4 bed which really caught my attention. for this specific year is there any common issues I should be aware of and it is listed at $49k with 67,500 miles is that a fair price, I also am paticular with interior Id prefer the Laramie/Laramie Longhorn/Limited Trims just because I like the rearview camera and gps nav, with heated and ventilated seats. thanks everyone and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God Bless the USA!!!!!

Real ranchers don't drive short bed trucks.

6'4 is considered short? I thought the short bed was the 5'7, I work with a bunch of ranchers with 6'4 or 6'5 bed trucks and its just to hold hay when pulling horses, Im not arguing with you and the 8' bed looks really cool and would help when I need to go cut pinion pine, but does Ram make a 3/4 ton mega cab 8' bed truck????

Not sure of the years, but pre def had issues with fuel dilution, dirty turbos and one year had a class action lawsuit. Also had lousy fuel mileage. Do your research. As a business owner, leasing a new one may be a better option.

What about a older designated tow rig and keep your hemi for running around normal driving. You could even get a dually. Just thinking outside the box 49k seems awfully high for a 2012 and if I'm not mistaken 07 and up with the 6.7 has the dpf if you want a work truck I would get a crew cab 3500 long bed 8ft. Just my .02

All the ranchers I know have 8' beds. They don't make the mega cab in an 8' but do in the crew cab. I have one. Oh- one other thing, your pants go over your boots.

That's not a smoking' deal by any means. Quite a bit of value retained there in that price. Being a new business owner I'd be looking for an older well kept 5.9 if I were you just to keep your start up expenses down and give you some more capitol $$$ to play with. If going for a 4th gen, I'd be looking 13+ rather then pre 13. Do your research on CTD updates over the 4th get lifespan.... pre DPF isn't everything. Deleted 13+ ftw.

If you're financing, interest rates are much better on new then used...at last in in Canada anyway,,,, sometimes it does not pay to buy slightly used vs new as it costs you more out of pocket in payments over time.

49k used is fckn steep. Right now before the 1st of the new year you can get a nicely optioned out 17/18 for 49k. I almost bought a truck from Reno dodge, but was going to go to Dennis Dillion or Dave smith, then found my truck for a song in Huntington beech. You are close enough to Idaho, either use Dennis Dillion pricing to help u negotiate at Carson dodge or just drive up there and get one. You won’t find cheaper pricing on the west coast.

51k.. take that to Carson dodge ask them to match it, or go get something similar. let’s say you get 1.9% apr... and on used you are talking 4.5-6% with the age of the trucks u are looking at..that price deference after all said and done is fckn massive. Let us know wich way you decide to go.

49k for a 5 going on 6 year old truck... wow... just wow

Never pay sticker. Around here, 15k-20k off msrp or more isn't uncommon. You have to be buying a really old cheap used truck to make it worth financing used vs financing new considering interest rates. The used market prices are way to high all over North America right now. Pick out exactly what you want new and enjoy it. Be strict with yourself and make it work.

The white mega cab that Ratket posted is hard to beat. That is a nice truck for that price. However, if going to be a "farm truck" id look at going 3500. And real ranchers have whatever length bed they want on their own truck.
