Curious if this is normal ... I just bought my 04 ram , 2 days into owning it I got the cel it had 3 codes p0157 p0159 and p2099 all pointing to the bank 2 down stream sensor. I replaced ir with a bosch one . Before knowing Mopar and bosch sensors don't go together well . With the bosch sensor in a got another cel code p04 30 . I talked to the previous owner and he said bosch sensor didn't do well for him so I tremoved ir and put a ntk in last night . I have new plugs and need to do them but looking at the previous maintenence records this truck has had alot of sensors and cats replaced , here is what the previous owner has done
4/2007-2 new cats, new O2 sensors

12/2008-new O2 sensor left rear bank

10/2012-new egr valve

5/2013-new O2 right rear bank

8/2014-updated PCM software, new O2 right rear bank, new cat driver side

Even being a 5.7 hemi isn't this kind of excessive ? , could there be a underlying issue ? , would true duel exhaust and high flow cats help me ? Also if so what types should I look at ? .
Thanks for any advice or help

Ask him if he had a tune.

My truck is a year newer and bone-stock but the only emissions-related codes I ever had were O2 sensors-and I attribute that to the harness getting loose and melting on the exhaust. And that was back when it had ~200K miles.

That seems a lil excessive. High flow cats won't help, they'll probably create more sensor headaches.

I know he did copper plugs every 30k miles and it's coming due , I bought plugs , what's the proper gap setting for them ? . I don't know if he ever cleaned the throttle body .I just think that's alot of cats and sensors for 93k miles . Could my muffler be causing issues with the cats ? , as far as i know it's stock exhaust

I got some Bosch plugs that came pre-gapped and noted it said not to alter them. No problems at all.

I replaced my spark plugs in my '04 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi in 2008 with NGK Iridium IX Spark Plug at AutoZone.com - Best Spark Plug Products for Cars, Trucks & SUVS. Getting ready to do another set soon. Do not regap them.

My exhaust consists of:
Pacesetter Ceramic Coated Longtube Headers
3" Pipe to Standard Cats
3" Pipe to Dual Flowmaster Super 44's
3" Pipe out behind both rear wheels

It's an all 3" dual exhaust.

The setback I have is not a big deal but, I had to put O2 sensor extentions on to reach the harness and now I get a slow O2 reading code during the winter months.

Hope this helps.

A tune might be the case. Running rich maybe? A clogged air filter can be hard on the system.

So here is the latest , I removed the bosch and installed a ntk bank 2 downstream sensor , my brother in law came and cleared the p0430 code last night . The truck drove fine today until we got on the back street and this is the second time on that street my red lightning bolt on the dash lit for 2 seconds then goes right off . We kept driving it , I added a can of sea foam and 17 gallons of 89 octane gas and the check engine light came back on 3 minutes later , I believe this is just because it needed enough time to finally throw a code . I'm gonna find out the code tomorrow , if it's p0430 I think it needs a cat , it's had 3 on the drivers side and 2 on passenger side . I'm planning on cleaning the throttle body and changing plugs between Sunday and Monday . I'm not sure the throttle body has ever been cleaned and the plugs have 30k miles on them . I can try to find out if the truck was tuned

So here is where iM at . Saturday I figured my brake light was staying on intermittently and that is causing my red lightning bolt to show up for a few seconds , my guess is the truck thought I was giving it gas and brake together . So u get a new brake pedal switch from autozone and get home and install it only to find out someone flipped the lever so I had to take it back and get another one . That seems to have fixed my brake light , red lightning bolt icon issue . Next I removed and cleaned my throttle body it looked like it has never been cleaned . I was concerned because there was what looked like oil in it but after reading threads on here I guess it's normal for the early 3rd Gens . So I cleaned that up front and back of the plate etc . I sprayed cleaner on a rag not into the throttle body , then removed and cleaned the pcv valve . After that my brother in law and I put a fouler on the bank 2 rear sensor. I ran out of time to do my plugs but will this weekend , I drove it to work with no codes so I'll see if it makes it home with none . Only thing that keeps happening now is the truck dings and says lamp out near my mileage , all the bulbs stay lit but I was able to catch the drivers front yellow marker light flicker so I think that's the culprit

The red lightning bolt means throttle body, this could mean a few things it could mean the throttle body is on its way out, it could mean there is a problem with the gas pedal because it does send a signal to the pcm then the pcm sends a signal to the throttle body, it could also mean a loose terminal at the throttle body, pcm or gas pedal. with a scanner you can watch the data stream on the pedal position as you press it and see if there is any glitch
if you do decide to clean the throttle plate DO NOT OPEN IT OR MOVE IT, you will throw off the calibration and you will have weird idle up and down or rev really high.. just undo the connector and 4 bolts and use a throttle/air intake cleaner,, dont use brake clean it will hurt the plastic parts on the outside and might get into the electronics and hurt it.

I've cleaned my tb a few times as well as force it open to really clean it...I have no issues with it. I do a pedal relearn each time I do it.

What's the pedal relearn ? . What I did was remove the tb , I used tb cleaner and sprayed on a rag and cleaned it . I did move the plate some to clean unDer where the plate sits . All I did after was hook it back up and turn the key forward for a minute before starting it there was no issue lucky . Now no check engine lights and no red lightning bolt icon . I just replaced the lower idler pulley last night
