Im not sure where to start with this or if this is the correct spot, im new to these forums. I have a 2008 Dodge ram 3500 6.7 turbo. the A/C compressor locked up and the belt broke while my wife was driving and only being 2 miles from home she drove it on in watching for overheating. it never got into the red. I replaced the A/C compressor, leaving the lines disconnected until i can get the lines cleared. The problem is, now it will not start. It turns over, now also the starter enguages for about 5 spins then it disenguages and re enguages over and over but doesnt start. Im at a loss. Any ideas from the pros?

I have no idea on a cause, but try just disconnecting the battery for 5-10 mins then reconnecting and fire it up.

What do you mean the starter engages and disengages? Shouldn't the starter spin as long as the key is in the start position?

Being a diesel the starter is working extra hard. Is it possible the starter just can't turn the engine over without the starter fluid? Could be a weak starter or weak batteries from driving with no alternator?

I'm not a diesel guy just kinda thinking out loud. I'd try the engine section for this type of question, you'll get more views I'm sure

Is it cranking at full strength? Could be weakened batts as mentioned.

Have correct fuel pressure?
Glow plugs working properly?
