Hello Everyone:

So excited as I just placed an order for a new 2021 Ram 2500 and my VIN is planned to ship November 30th. The truck is not built yet as SOP for 21 is mid November, so I have a bit to make changes. I previously had a 17 and 19 Ram 1500, both Laramie's so stepping up to heavy duty.

I ordered the following w/ options. Wondering if I am missing out on any necessary/recommended options, please let me know. I plan to keep this truck a while to tow my boat from Michigan to Florida a lot.

1) 2021 Ram 2500 Crew Cab, 4X4 and 6.4 bed w/ Ram Boxes
2) Powertrain: 6.7 Diesel, 3.73 Axel, 6-speed 68RFE
3) Bright white with chrome bumpers, Indigo/Frost Interior
4) 12 Uconnect, Power Sunroof, Aux switches, Anti Spin Rear Axel, 220 Amp Alternator, Clearance lamps, 20" satin carbon/chrome wheels rims with OWL On/Off Road Tires

Basically the only options I added where power sunroof, snow chief group & 6.7L diesel, everything else was standard. Below is screen shot of a 2020, but its the same look for 2021.

Towing requirements?

That loaded of a 2500 with CTD can limit gvwr

If your needs are small then you will be good and have a nice powerful comfortable ride!

Currently I tow 3 trailers around:
1) 22XS NauticStar Center Console w/ T-top: ~5K fully loaded
2) 16ft landscape trailer with 3200 Kubota Tractor: ~4,500 with implements
3) 16ft Snowmobile trailer with 3 sleds: ~4,500

I do plan to get a bigger center console in the future that will weigh in ~8-9K so planning ahead with this truck. My 19 Ram 1500 with 5.7 gets the job done, but I am tired of 9mpg and sitting in 5 gear on my trips south.

What is CTD?

I was thinking to get the technology safety package (adaptive cruise & steering, lane assist) that adds $1,495, but figured its more to break in the future.

Your 1500 probably nearly has the same payload is what he was getting at also.

Gonna be one sharp head Turner though

Congrats on the truck. Looks like you got it all and the kitchen sink.

Could you keep us updated if your delivery actually comes through. I ordered a 2020 2500 back in august and it still hasn't shipped from the factory in mexico. Trying to find out what is going on. Was supposed to be here Oct. 20.

Looks like Rambox is a restriction to production on the 1500s. Doesn't say this is the case for the 2500s, but I'm guessing it's the same supplier making both. That and Covid could be causing the delays...

Just for fun, on the link search for GM trucks and look at their production problems. And even Toyota, the master of manufacturing, is 16-20 weeks out! 24 weeks right now on a Silverado!

I really dig the two-tone paint. Might make it stand out just a little bit? Otherwise very sweet!

Unless you have reasons for a short bed I would order the long bed and the 50 gallon tank.

Otherwise, you have made a great design.

Congratulations

the techno safety pkg is popular with some.but I dont see the value for the price paid as some of the features are kind of a pest. I have turned off the auto braking and vibratting seat alarm and the front proximity alarm..all seemed too sensitive to me and too much trouble to deal with. that pkg came on my truck as I bought off the lot but I would not order it nor would I pay the big pile of money they want for the big screen radio. the 8.4 is fine for me. those extras add up fast

You're going to love the ramboxes. We keep gear in one and save the other for grocery store runs. When we travel, we pack 4 duffel bags on one side. All the clothes we need for 4 people for a week.

The truck frame on a 2500 truck made after 2013 is far stronger than those on current 1500 trucks. The 2500 also has leaf springs and so adding SuperSprings to increase payload is a $450 and one hour job to gain 1400 lbs for the truck.

Lots of frame failures with earlier trucks from Ram and Ford in particular. 3500 frame was changed in 2013 and the 2500 frame in 2014 to be able to handle increases in engine power and towing loads.

I would only hope that the truck's price out the door is under $50K.

Haven't heard about a production restriction on 1500 ramboxes. But it shouldn't affect the 2500 if that's true because they are not made by the same supplier. The new 1500 ramboxes were redesigned, and they switched vendors. Now us 5th gen 1500 owners are suffering with misaligned rambox lids LOL.

I have been trying to build a 2021 Ram 2500 online for a few hours and it keeps bouncing me back to a 2020 model!! UGH!!

SO... are there any 2021 models on the ground so I could buy one without the wait?

That Indigo/Frost interior is awesome!! Sounds like you run the highways a lot...if you do, I strongly suggest the Adaptive Cruise Control. I've had it for a few years and it really is nice, especially in traffic. Yes, the automatic braking *can* be a bit aggressive occasionally, but it's a small price to pay IMHO. I've not had the lane departure option so can't speak to that. I do know that all the settings are adjustable for these safety options. If you planned to keep this vehicle for a while I'd suggest it.

The only other thing to suggest is that IF you ever wanted to tow heavier or maybe a 5th wheel...then get the 3500 now and save yourself a lot of headaches. The extra cost would be relatively insignificant.

Oh, and if you get this truck less than $50K OTD, please order two...I'll buy the second one from you and throw in $5K for your trouble!!

Picked my truck up this past Monday (ordered 10/16/20, delivered 1/4/21) and I love it. Totally surprised how nice it rides and cruises down the road effortlessly. Never had power steps before and I will say its my 2nd favorite new feature (and must have) behind the CTD. I had the undercarriage, frame and inner sheet metal areas professionally Krowned a few days ago and plan to tint the front windows (20%) this week.
