I am thinking of getting a K&N for my 1500 4.7. But I am reading they are great and also they suck. So anyone running them please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks

I have an afe cai
it makes the hemi have a nice little rumble sound to it, but im sure it would sound good and improve hp a little bit on a 4.7 too.
good luck!

thanks guys, but I want to retain the stock look. I am looking at more of a direct replacement.

AFE makes one that uses the everything on the stock intake exept the top of the air box. Everything else is stock. I believe it costs about 175-195 of autoanything.com. Its the stage 1 kit

I would look to the aem brute force. I was going to buy it but it was on backorder for 3 weeks and I didn't want to wait. Got a volant and I'm happy with it but it def doesn't look stock. Aem makes the Mopar one but for about half of what the branded one runs.

AFE works great for gassers, ran the high breather setup on mine for 3-4yrs or so. Keeps the restrictive resonator but removes the stock air box for another one.

Truth be told, almost all of the CAI's out there right now will do about the same thing performance/mpg wise with the exception of 2 that out perform the others by just a little bit ( BFI if you can find one and the vararam ).

Personally I wont buy another K&N setup, had one on my old truck (76' Chevy) and it rotted out within the first 6 months.

Do you have any information on the vararam airfilters?

I have a K&N on my bike. Has to be better than 30 years old, obviously very satisfied. When purchased K&N was a young company.
