Heres a question for the experts.. I have a 2015 ram sport crew cab w/ 11k miles on it. Two days ago i noticed a knocking noise in the steering wheel when i turn all the way to the left. I went outside and can here a low knocking noise which seems to be coming from under front drivers side of the truck. Only when the wheel is turned all the way to the left. No other symptoms , truck rides smooth as ice . Any ideas what it could be ?

Thanks in advance for the help

Maybe a wheel weight touching something? If you have lifetime rotate and balance on your tires, have them do it (just to see if the noise goes away).

is the vehicle 4WD? at full lock, while in 4WD you are fighting the u-joints in the front axle half shafts.

Nope the wheels arent hitting anything and the 4 wheel drive isnt engaged. Its bizarre , the wheel is t rubbing or touching anything. Could it be inner tie rod or rack?

Mine does this too. It never did it until after I leveled it. But when I turn all the way left or right and roll real slow, I hear a locking sound. I had the dealership tighten the brakes and add some high het grease to the pads. It worked for a little while, but its doing it again now. I just deal with it haha let me know if you find a good fix though, cause it is a bit embarrassing.

UPDATE

Truck needs a new Rack... Wtf. Gotta be honest, this is really making me question my decision to buy a Ram. 50k truck less then a year old should NOT need a new rack

This is exactly why I bought the lifetime warranty. Look at the history of reliability of Chrysler and it's parent company Fiat. They are both among the worst in the industry.
If you plan on keeping the truck longer than 5-6 years I'd strongly recommend looking into it.

I can't believe I'm saying this but it's kind of like a Range Rover. Beautiful, nice to drive, comfortable, capable, I mean air suspension for crying out loud!
But reliable. No.
Expensive to repair. Yes.

well, that is discouraging. I know it is not recommended for any steering system to run it to full lock and hold it there. Are there any physical stops built into the knuckle to prevent turning too far? My old 76 Power Wagon had adjustable stops in the steering knuckles.

Not sure.. I never usually turn it to full lock.. Just so happened i was backing into my driveway and heard it through the steering wheel.
