LED Headlight Bulbs Upgrade

On the bright side you don’t have many possibilities to cause the codes with only a few bulbs to troubleshoot.

There is only a few things it could be. Did you change everything at one time or at various times. If you changed everything at various times at what point did the codes pop up? I’m guessing the backup LED aren’t throwing the codes as they would more likely show a bulb out alert if it was them. If your LED bulbs are CANBUS ready that leaves the Alpharex units. You could pull the LED bulbs and replace them with the halogens to see if the codes pop. I don’t know anything about Alpharex lights except they should work flawlessly for the price. Do they have harness adapters and do the DRLs need to be spliced into the factory harness?

Just in case it is the backup lights causing the codes maybe pull the tail lights and
swap out the bulbs before you pull the grill and take the headlights out. Would be a lot less work if it turns out to be the backup lights.

Yeah that makes sense. I have only had my truck since july of 2021. Hopefully these will last a very long time

I pulled the q20 bulb out last night and the base isnt adjustable, its held in place with 2 screws and could only be flipped 180 degrees, so nothing I can do about adjusting the beam pattern. I'm going to be shopping for a new set that is thinner and adjustable but I dont think I'll be going with the auxbeam even though I do appreciate their easy plug and play

I just bought a set of these when I saw the price. The quality appears to be good. install was super quick, no issues. Liking the white color over the yellowish halogens. Brightness seems decent, not much brighter than the stock halogens, but for the price I cant complain.

The one issue I need to fix is the clocking on the driver side. It is not giving me a hot spot like it should and it does on the passenger side, but that should be easy enough to resolve.

I'll probably get a set of their 9005s for my high beams eventually. Dont use them every often so I'm not worried but its be nice if they matched.

Going to ask a dumb question here.... but I've noticed the clocking term being used a couple of times. What does that mean?

It's because leds have 2 chips at 180 degrees from each other and when you rotate it, it makes a different beam pattern and has dead spots, so you rotate it to the optimal position where as halogens and hids have 360 of light

Thats strange I did not have that issue. I totally understand. I would stay away from auxito i put them in my wifes challenger and they only lasted 2 months.

Thanks. Do most of the LEDs have a recommended way to clock them in the headlight assembly or is it up to the installer?

I have heard good things about lasfit just no personal experience. If I did not go with auxbeam I would have gotten those

Make sure when installed the led chips are at the 3 o’clock & 9 o’clock position.
Seems to give the best light dispersion & beam pattern. Some bases aren’t adjustable, some are. With my Silverado I had to modify the headlight housing so the bulb would sit at 3 & 9. My Ram lights had adjustable bases. Both good brands in the $60-$100 range.

If the bulbs have plastic bases, the part that has the cut outs that lock into the housing, you can use a pair of nippers and clip the plastic back to get a proper fit. I had to do that with my daughters Civic. No way I was spending a fortune on a 13 year old car with 212k miles college kids car. Just gotta go slow and take off a tiny bit at a time.

If you have projector headlights just loosen the 3 screws, turn to where its 9/3 and tighten back down.

I thought about that but I didn't want to strain the wires with the bulb pointing off in a wierd direction, but maybe I'll do it anyways. I found some auxito leds that are supposed to have close to 360 light that look affordable that I'm considering now. I want to try and modify the q20s to fit in the high beam 9005 slot so they dont go to waste

you dont have to change them all, wont cause any issues, it just looks silly to have different color lights if you use fogs or highs often. I dont have any experience to answer the other questions

Just wanted to show pictures comparing the auxbeam q20s vs halogens in the projectors. I wasnt satisfied with the wierd beam pattern and dead spots so I asked auxbeam to send the 9005 collar so I can swap them to my high beams, which they sent, so gotta say that's good customer service. Did some research and landed on the auxito y13, adjustable plus thin although less bright than the q20.

First is the q20 at 20k lumen or so they say, 2nd is halogen, you can see the led might even be worse to be honest. I just really like the look of the white led light versus the yellowish halogens. If the y13 doesnt perform well, I will look at an hid kit.

Hi l, just wondering if anyone had any flickering issues, I changed to LED bulds, and in Alfaobd enabled led low beam and also enabled high intensity discharge and still having a minor flicker, not sure what else to do

I am using alpharex pro G2 with canbus ready LED bulbs. Only other led bulbs is the reverse lights. The taillights are factory housings.

Are you happy with the light output with these? I tried the stock halogens, Sylvania Silverstar Ultras, and Cougar Motor Evolution+ LEDs and still ended up taking them out. It's dissapointing because I did like the looks of them.

I use auxbeam in my 2021 classic. Installed them in jan no issues.
