So I know almost everything there is to know about Jeeps as I have owned 7 and modded them. However I just traded in my JK for a 15 Ram Sport and its my first truck. Needed something moderate to tow my project Jeep. Its not that I hate how low it sits, but Id like to just add a small lift to make it a bit more truck worthy. Ive done some research and most recommend a leveling kit (adjustable struts) and body lift. I cant really find a definitive answer if this will alter the drivetrain to a less than ideal geometry. This is my DD now and Id like to keep it as streetable as possible, ie not messing with the A arms or other suspension components outside of the struts and springs. So will a leveling kit and body lift be an easy route to maintain stock angles and streetability, and what are the best kits right now.

Leveling kits achieve the lift by pushing the control arms down, or preloading the strut. So to answer your question, yes it changes your stock geometry. But that's why most leveling kits are 2-2.5", that's not enough to adversely affect your geometry. Body lifts are hardly even noticeable on these trucks, by that I mean the truck hides them really well.
A lot of members will do a leveling kit and add a 1.5" or 3" body lift to achieve more lift, which is a budget friendly option that works well. Another option is a full lift kit, which is more expensive but it fixes all of your geometry to factory specs.

I did a 4" SuperLift with 35's on 15' Sport. It rides and steers like it did from the factory. It does put a big dent on MPG's, but I don't regret it.

However I just traded in my JK for a 15 Ram Sport and its my first truck.

I feel ya man, I just picked up my 1500 in August and now the wife is making me sell my JK . I have a 3 mile dirt driveway that the Jeep goes bouncing down and the truck feels like it lumbers along. I ended up ordering a set of King Coilovers for the front ( they are adjustable but I probably wont change the preset 2" of lift up front) and the companion piggy back shocks for the rear.

For wheels and tires if I was going to do a lot of towing I'd probably just add some all terrains to the stock wheels. You might want to consider some load lifting springs in the rear too if you level the front.

Again due to my driveway and driving around the property I'm going down to an 18 inch wheel with a 285/70. Mine is my DD and I have a 60 mile commute so I just want a little better tread pattern with a little more height and width. Everything on this truck has to be a hybrid for me.

I agree with what everyone has said above, the bils are the way to go. IMO, you just spent the money on the nice truck, why half a** it and go the cheap route. Save a bit more and get something that will last and be better for the truck.

As far as the body lift.... just remember
1) that if you have tow hooks, you wont be able to use them anymore because the bumper will be covering them.
2)your exhaust will still be the same height and therefore be whatever size BL you do, lower than the bumper
3)your hitch will also hang below the bumper more and be more exposed.

Most people just show pics of the side of the truck and how good it looks but then forget about the things that are mounted to the frame and not the body. Thats why I went with a big lift to keep everything looking nice and geometry the same, granted I know your not but just somethings to consider
