I bought my truck lifted 9 inches. 6 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift.
I realized when I replaced my u-joint on my rear dif that my rear drive shaft is too short bc of the lift. Its about 3 inches too short and I have to pull it away from the transfer case to get it to reach the rear dif.
I want to get a driveshaft from a junk yard and have it cut and welded.
What length would I need(if you have had this problem)?
If you havnt but know what the stock length is that would help too.

Sounds like whoever installed the lift didn't install the driveshaft spacer. I would see if the company who made the lift would ship you one

Yeah I was looking into that but frbr said that the spacers are crap. To just buy a longer driveshaft and cut it.

Why would drive shaft spacers be crap? It serves the perpose they are made for.

Apparently they brake with too much torque. So when muddin or crawling they can crack a bolt which makes a week point and so on. Resulting in your driveshaft laying on the ground and then you driving your truck home in 4wd lol

Just what I was told though.

hardy har har:flipthebird:
it has nothing to do with the engine size. You obviously dont know **** about mudding
when your stuck in mud spinning out and then catch all of a sudden thats a lot of stress on the drivetrain. The weakest point will go out.

If you don't want to run a spacer I would just take it in to a shop that builds custom drivelines.....they should be able to drop your current one, take the necessary measurement and fab you one up. You could probably run a cv (double-cardon) shaft if you liked as well with upgraded parts. It's what we do in the jeep world as spacer aren't an option when you get to high because the angle from TC to Diff becomes to great and stand u-joints will rub and break. all-in-all should only be 200-400$ and you will have a beefier driveline

Thats what Im doing. Except one difference. Im buying a driveshaft and having it cut to length. It will only cost me $100 tops and be the same thing.
I only posted to ask if anyone knew the length of the stock driveshaft.
