I've researched online and I'm pretty sure these black spots are mold spores from mulch. I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem? They are crusted on the top which you can pick off with your finger nail but it leaves a sticky black spot that is hard to get off. Fortunately I've found that a magic eraser takes them off but you really have to scrub to get them off. I've tried bug and tar remover, polishing compound, detailer spray, all kinds of stuff. Has anyone else had any better luck with something else? I don't mind using the magic eraser but I have about 2 hours into scrubbing it so far and have maybe an hour left to get it finished. Is there a quicker way? I plan on waxing it so that next time they might be easier to get off. Next year I will be replacing the mulch with river rock IMG_20190621_191140.jpg IMG_20190621_191134.jpg IMG_20190621_191348.jpg

Give a clay bar a try. Use plenty of clay bar lube. The thing that bothers me about the magic eraser is that I think it is a little abrasive and it may leave some scratches in the paint if you "scrub" with it.

The magic eraser is definitely abrasive and will leave fine scratches in any finish. I rarely use them on anything other than flat finishes.

Your right it is abrasive but it was literally the only thing I found that worked. I do have some chemical guys clay bar I will try that on my wife's vehicle. Do you think the little black specs will get stuck in the clay and I'll just end up scratching it more?

Anything on the surface a clay bar should have no problem removing. As long as your keeping it lubricated it will not scratch.
You could also try citrol or meguiars wheel brightener to see if either would eat through it. Just make sure you wash it with dawn dish soap after to neutralize the acids. Both products are safe on paint

That is super weird. Maybe an iron remover ? It’ll remove your iron deposits and might kill the mould.

I definitely wouldn't take a Magic Eraser to my paint. There are different grades of clay as well. This may require an aggressive clay. I once had clear coat over-spray all over my vehicle. Mother's Clay bar did nothing. I used an Autoscrub Nanoskin medium grade sponge, and it worked great. There are many "like" products, but you'll have to mail order.

I'd read about this crazy hard to remove artillery fungus awhile back.
One video looked promising: hot water and zip wax car wash and wax.

did you try alcohol? I mean the rubbing kind, not the drinking kind.
