Hey everyone,

I’m part of a team that studies how owners actually use—and value—the little the ambient lighting on the doors.

Why we’re asking:

We are driving some activities to keep prices in check, and we are looking for your valuable feedback.

What we’re exploring:

For Ram 1500, one idea is to make the door lights available on the equipment groups only instead of keeping it standard all across trims.

How you can help

1. Do you use those door lights often—or even notice them?

2. If they became part of an optional package, would you pay little extra to keep them?

3. Would you prefer they stay standard—even if that means a slightly higher starting MSRP?

4. Any other thoughts on interior ambient lighting (brightness, color, locations, etc.) are welcome.

Your honest feedback—good, bad, or indifferent—will go straight into the study. No promises on final decisions, but owner input has influenced lighting content before and can do so again.

Thanks a ton for your time and insight!

I like and use them.

2. If they became part of an optional package, would you pay little extra to keep them?

I would take the package, although at some point it might make sense to just make everything a package instead of marketing people
making what I feel are strange choices in what they let you buy or not buy.

3. Would you prefer they stay standard—even if that means a slightly higher starting MSRP?

I prefer standard. It's not like prices aren't going up anyway..

4. Any other thoughts on interior ambient lighting (brightness, color, locations, etc.) are welcome.

No I do not.

2. If they became part of an optional package, would you pay little extra to keep them?

No I would not I have had them before and never noticed them

3. Would you prefer they stay standard—even if that means a slightly higher starting MSRP?

Doesn't matter to me

4. Any other thoughts on interior ambient lighting (brightness, color, locations, etc.) are welcome.

I have a big one that I just can't stand. In the Radio screen there is a Temp readout. You can't adjust it or change it, and it is to lite to see. Same as the milage readout, the gear number on the dash, the radio station. Get the current stuff figured out before adding more unless lights and stuff that most likely won't work. Yes I have called @RamCares and brought it to the dealer just to be told that it is normal. Well just because every truck on the lot has the same problem doesn't mean it is normal. 2025 Ram 1500 first none Ford truck I have bought in 30 years, and this little stuff might make me go back.

I use and notice the ambient lighting in the cab of my truck, a 2020 1500 Laramie. I find it useful at night to look for things that have fallen. There is usually enough light that you do not have to turn on the dome lights and lose night vision.
2
If these lights became part of a package, depending on what else is in the package, but, most likely will not order a package for these lights as not required to accomplish the mission, so to speak.
3
I would prefer that the lights remain standard and have a slight increase in the base price of the truck
4
In my truck, the lights are adequate for my needs, but this is going to be highly variable from person to person.

I have had such lights on my 2019 Expedition since new. I remember scrolling through them with my wife and settling on the medium blue. We did that the night we brought the truck home. Have not touched them since.

Here you have to make a call. If our truck came with blue lights, we would not have even noticed. Had it come in red only to match the awful decor in the Rebel, we would not have bought the truck.

3. Would you prefer they stay standard—even if that means a slightly higher starting MSRP?

That all depends on what you mean by "slightly". I would probably values this option at $25 and would balk at buying the truck at all if it went subscription.

4. Any other thoughts on interior ambient lighting (brightness, color, locations, etc.) are welcome.

Before concluding my thoughts, I guess I would need to know the actual MSRP hit AND the payload hit. Payload is something the OEM's seem to gloss over as if the end user ignores the actual payloads. While some do ignore the sticker or don't even know it is there, most of us do pay attention to the weights. In my current purchasing I turned down a fantastic deal on a Laramie because it was too tarted up with heavy options that the payload was too low to be useful.
