I'm wanting to lower my 2009 1500 2WD quad cab truck. Which would be better on the front, lowering springs or lowering spindles? What are the pros and cons of each one? I occasionally tow a car hauler but not very often. How well do the lowered rear springs tow? Also, any rubbing with the stock 275/60R20 tires with the 2/4 kits?

Thanks

Spindles,no issues with bump steer,it'll wheel align to factory specs, and the biggest one, they're way easier to install.Swapping springs is a b!atch, while swapping spindles is a piece of cake. Downside to spindles is they move the wheels out a slight bit.

How far out does the 2 inch drop spindle push the wheel out?
Roughly 3/8". I had my dropped spindles narrowed by roughly 5/8" ,but my truck is a 4X4 and they have a wider front wheel stance then the 2X4 trucks have.295/50 on the front on stock 20" Sport wheels

I did the 2/4 drop and did springs and shocks in the front, and I wish I had done spindles. Besides bottoming out on deeper dips, which will be common when lowering anyway, I can't really get my front end trued up and camber is always slightly off, and my caster is pretty much maxed out. The alignment shop told me had I done lowing spindles I wouldn't have this issue.

Honestly though, I am thinking about getting the front back up to stock height and getting the rear 2" drop from stock. I love the look, but after 2.5 years, the ride has gotten pretty rough, and I'm bottoming out a lot more than I used to.

I'm guessing you milled the hub face down to accommodate for the wheel poke?

Caliper bracket also needs to be machined a corresponding amount.Doing it again i wouldn't go anymore then a 1/2"

Is that 3\8" poke really that noticeable?
If you're running aftermarket rims, you can compensate with differant offsets between front and rear, and then you wouldn't even notice it

I'm wanting to do the same thing, switch out springs for spindles. Anyone have recommendations on good spindles?

I haven't looked for new spindles lately, when i bought my dropped spindles back in 13,there was only Mcgauphies(sp??) spindles available back then.My spindles were on my old 13 originally, then when i traded the truck off i kept the spindles and put them on my 4X4. It's been 10 years since i was digging around looking for dropped spindles,i'm not sure whats available these days for dropped spindles,if somebody makes them out of aluminium now, they'd be the ones i'd go for though
