What do you prefer and why? My truck is used some around my dad's farm; general things/field roads/crop stubble(which can be hard on tires)/hunting/etc. but nothing severe. Seems like the vast majority of LT tires today are E/10ply with some C/6ply options. Don't see any D/8ply options. Just questioning if I would really need E/10ply when I replace the stock Goodyears.

IMO with the farm work in the mix I would stay with 10 Ply as who knows what gets dug up! I run a light duty tire on my Street Queen . I never off road :) BUT have 10 Ply SNow tires and really did not notice a difference in driving ! The 10 ply I believe also has stronger side walls as well ,and that helps avoid punctures

I run 18 ply (load range J) on the 39' horse trailer.

The vast majority of LT's are indeed 10 ply.

When I replaced mine the only ones that were not were KO2's and I had to get them in the stock size which I didn't want.

You probably won't need 10 ply and they will ride a little rougher but for hauling loads and towing my travel trailer I certainly prefer them.

Maxxis makes a really strong comfortable riding 8 play tire in a variety of tread designs.

It's probably up to the individual but I can say from first-hand experience going from E-rated Continental TerrainContact to C-rated BFGoodrich A/T's on my other truck the difference in roughness and road noise was dramatic. Some of that may have been down to other design aspects but I was truly surprised by how much smoother the C tire felt.

I'd conjecture that for the same reason it's probably good to have E's if you're towing or hauling heavy loads because not only are they made for that purpose in particular but even within the load range specified for C, an E's added stiffness is likely a good thing when managing a trailer against cornering and wind loads or navigating a cambered surface while loaded.
