Definitely do Chrysler MAX care if U can, not third party, like Go Fish said, put into system and recognized nationally.
Thanks, TB. That is what I just did for my '19 Ram 3500 Cummins. I only have 16,000 miles on it so I got the 36 month/ 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty extended out to 75,000 miles and an additional 36 months.

In the States, there is no such thing as an extended bumper-to-bumper Mopar warranty. Once the first 3/36 is done, the Mopar extended warranty does not cover a lot of the things the B-2-B warranty does.
Actually, no. Here in the U.S Chrysler Factory Warranty offers genuine factory backed Chrysler Service Contracts, bumper to bumper. Only exclusions are for clogged diesel fuel injectors and brake pads/ rotors.

I bought mine from Ziegler back in 2014 when Lifetime was an option and WOW, have I got money's worth. Transmission (blew twice but once would have been covered by the factory warranty), exhaust manifold bolts, thermostat, 8.4 Uconnect system and I just got my truck back after getting an entirely new engine!

Granted, my number of problems is outside of normal but if not for the warranty I'd have dropped this truck by now. The trick making it pay is you must keep the truck for a long time and don't do a bunch of mods that give them an avenue to get out of coverage. Also, having all the service done at the dealer helps so all the records are there. My truck has literally not been touched by anyone other than the dealer. Also, be sure to really read the manual and to all the recommended service and maintenance. Honestly, there's really not much but you have to do it. For example I paid the dealer $800 to swap my plugs at 100K miles and if not for that I'm sure they would have tried to deny my recent engine replacement.
$800 to swap spark plugs? That sounds rather steep.

Yeah, I suppose it is but there are a couple things - First off, there are 16 plugs with 2/cylinder so there is at least a couple hundred dollars in parts (I'm sure the dealer soaks me too). Also, it's a company work truck so the whole thing is a tax write-off and I likely make more just working than wrenching on my truck for a day. I have a moderately bad back that is especially aggravated by leaning over an engine bay. Lastly, the warranty thing... it's just so seamless to have everything done at the dealer. With my recent engine failure I'm sure they would have put me through the ringer.

I respectfully disagree. jejb is correct that MaxCare is not a B-2-B like the basic warranty is.

The MaxCare is a factory-backed extended service plan (contract) and still covers a lot of stuff...but not as much as the 3/36 basic warranty.

Easiest example is the rear window frame cracking. Basic warranty covers that but the ESP does not. Once the basic warranty expires glass is no longer covered and since the whole rear window has to be replaced to fix the problem (frame and glass) it is not covered by MaxCare...or any ESP for that matter.

Wear parts are only covered for the initial 12 months unless it is a design or part defect (or you have a warranty on a replacement part). If your brakes are squeaking/vibrating because of caliper problems it is covered for the basic warranty but if you autocross your truck and burn up the pads in 20K miles then you're 8K miles too late to have Chrysler foot that bill.

The basic warranty is to correct any defects or premature part failures from assembly. The ESP is an insurance policy that you buy banking on the fact that some of the truckload of expensive things in these trucks will have problems during your ownership and you will only be out a few nice dinners instead of having to cash in your IRA to fix it.

I bought an extended warranty from Granger Motors. Great price and even better service from Granger. They made it very easy.

From your link:

Maximum Care is an exclusionary extended warranty, often referred to as a “Bumper-to-Bumper warranty” and as such if it’s not excluded, it’s covered. The only parts and labor not covered are:

  • Maintenance services and items used in such services.
  • Glass, plastic lenses.
  • Body and paint items, including soft trim.
  • Wear items such as manual clutch assembly, brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums and belts are not covered at any time.
  • Snow plows, winches and trailer hitches
They are just playing advertising games. I'm sure some do refer to an ext warranty as a B-2-B warranty, but they'd be wrong.

Hopefully you got a copy of your ext warranty contract. Go to the section that lists the exclusions. It's called the "THE PLAN WILL NOT COVER" section. Read it carefully. See for yourself what is not covered. It's not a bad warranty to have, but it is just not the same as the factory B-2-B.

I think the advice in this thread applies just as well to your 2020 Ram as anything else. Definitely go true Mopar, buy it from the place that gives you the best deal. There are quite a few places recommended in this thread that you can check. You will get a lot better price if the truck is less than 3 years from in-service and still under the warranty mileage.
