Just curious. Salesman told me (having to score more points with the Liar's Club, i'm sure,) MDS cylinder shutdown is variable and constantly changing, making sense to me, wear wise and all. Have since found out the shutdown is 1 4 6 and 7. Just wondering why these cylinders were chosen?

Balance, most likely. The firing order for a modern hemi is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2....note where those cylinder numbers are.

Balance as Hemi stated, and it also offsets stress on the crank and rod journals
