Ok so after trying to bypass the regulator I was told by my dealership that I was risking frying the computer. the solution is simple, the dealership recalibrated the PCM and now everything is running smoothly

I upgraded my power system with big 3 high output 370 amp alternator odyessy battery ect and didn't realize I had to update the PCM and set it to max setting of 220 amp.
this was

not a recall

I think Red meant "recalibration" not recall. That's the problem with guys shortening up the spelling,"recal" is to close to "recall" to shorten the spelling Red.

And after a couple days of banging my system my power started dropping again below 12v. Today I pulled the mechman alternator out and replaced it with the stook one. To my surprise my voltage was much more stable and sustained 12v or higher during the hard hitting tracks. now I have to get the mechman alternator spun to see if it's defective and if it is I really hope mechman will warrenty

moral of the story kids is that by upgrading the big 3, the battery, and updating the PCM you shouldn't need to upgrade the Alternator

seems fishy

This is an old thread I know, but I did recently swap out the OEM alternator for a Mechman 370amp unit. They come with a smaller pulley that requires a smaller belt, however,it will overspin at just 5000rpm and will not last long if that is sustained or reached often.(NO warranty for overspinning either).I don't remember reading or knowing about that prior,,and only found out because it is the first thing you read on it when you open the box,on a red warning attached to the pulley.[I did not see it in any advertisement, and I do not know why they hide it,till you open the box].Since my 5.7hemi redline is 5800rpm.,I replaced the Mechman pulley with one of their larger 2.5inch steel pullies. This was the best way to avoid over spinning.I now can hit redline, with no worries of over spinning it.But you lose charging at low rpm, now. You save some money at least because the OEM belt fits still. There isn't much charging (or less) when idling at 500rpm with accessories on in the winter (-20C) . This was with my AGM battery and big3upgrade,as well. After doing all this for my 1,950watt audio upgrade my solution was to raise the idle to 950rpm. Everything works great and the alternator reaches full output at 2300rpm.I realize IBS affects and limits some of that).Back in carburatator days I could have turned a screw to increase my idle ,but I have a 2023 Ram Classic,5.7. SO,I purchased a Diablo tuner and unlocked pcm. I am happy ,and never planned on ever buying an unlocked pcm .But after everything else I didn't want to change my initial plans(that initially weren't going to cost this much). The original question was did anyone purchase a 370Mechman alternator. So that is the route I took and shared it with you
