Thank you MADDOG for the badge! Thank you for your service also! I was EOD during Panama back in '89.
When my mother signed me up for the US Coast Guard in 1978, I had no idea that it would take me all over the world. Cutters from Alaska, Loran Stations on The White Pearl of the Pacific, to the warm beaches of the Greater Antilles. Visiting Russia, Japan, and Cuba was just a part of "Underway as Before". Found a bride in the Deep South, picked up 3 kids along the way. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
Semper Fi Marine! Thank you for your service and and sacrifice. CTR2 USN JAN 04-OCT 02.Joined the Marine Corps in April of 2009 at 24 on a requested 03xx contract(which I had to wait for a highschool kid who backed out... thankfully!), deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan mid to late August of 2010, stepped on an IED on Halloween of 2010, had my lower right leg amputated January of 2011, and medically retired June of 2012. With 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines obviously.
I come from a long line of Marines. My dad most importantly who did 24 years in, 2 Uncles, and 2 cousins who all did time in the Marine Corps as well. My cousins and I were all Infantry. I also have other family members and close friends who served in the other branches. Born and bred in the military community.
