Got my Gator EFX Hard Tri-Fold in about a week ago. When I went to go install it I noticed a piece was missing (one of the black plastic pieces in the photo). It seems each rail is supposed to have 3, but one of the rails only has 2. I thought maybe it had fallen off in the box as one of the had (I put it back on), but I searched all the packaging and could not find it. I have already contacted the company to see if they can send a replacement piece, but my question is can I install it without this piece? Is it necessary to have it?

I just installed one. I'm pretty sure that these keep you from crushing the aluminum rail when you tighten down the clamps that hold the rail on. I think you'd be fine to mount one of the rails with on two (one on each end) for the time being until the third comes in, then you can attach the third clamp. If you do go ahead with the third clamp and no plastic piece, just be careful and watch that the rail doesn't start to squeeze in as you tighten it.

Do you think this might be something that can be found at an autoparts/hardware store? I'm not sure the exact name of it since the instructions don't list it as a part, so that makes looking for it difficult. Would rather get it sooner than waiting for RealTruck to get back to me on my e-mails.

I'm guessing its probably proprietary to Gator. Gator's rails are different than other's. I'm not near my truck to look, but they just keep clamps from crushing the aluminum rail. You might be able to find something else to slip in there that will do the same thing. Plus, I think if you just put a clamp at both ends, it will be alright until you eventually get one from RealTruck. You also might have better luck going straight to Gator for a replacement. I've only dealt with RealTruck once and their customer service was less than stellar. Good luck!
