My engine was making a ticking noise and the right side valve cover was slowly leaking oil so I too it in to the dealer. After two weeks they told me the exhaust manifolds had swollen and broken off the bolts on the back of the head on both sides. The head gasket was bad on the right side and had it replaced. Chrysler wanted to put helicoils in it but I quickly objected to that on a truck with only 32k on it. They put a new left side head on and sent the right side off to get machined. It's all back together and I picked it up and running back to normal now. I've seen the bolts breaking on older models but not on the newer ones, anyone else had this problem?

yeah, I've heard of these breaking on the 5.7L in the cars and trucks before. Normally it was associated with an overheating problem.

Good call on the helicoil option. I wouldn't want them either.
