Hey guys.....wow there is some very informative info about audio systems in here.....some of you are over the top with your love for high end audio components.....all very cool. But much over my head and way too much money for my taste. BUT.....I do like a good sound and things have come such a long way from my days when Jensen coaxial speakers was "the" must upgrade in the late 70's....lol Anyway....enough rambling!!

I recently bought a new 2016 1500 RCSB....and I traded my 2004 Quad....I say that because I salvaged my amp and 10" bass...I had it in one of those custom boxes under the passenger rear bench seat. Both are Alpine....the amp model is MRP-M500. I had several hundred bucks in that rear....so sure wasn't going to let that go in the trade.

So here is where I need the advice.....I have Uconnect 5.0 head and don't have plans to change that. Based on what I have read I plan to change out the door speaker with 77kick41 and the dash with kicker CS354. So....do I try and utilize the amp and 10" thumper in a new box behind the rear center console?? Would it really provide a richer base or just be overkill? I suspect that if I were asking about buying those components you might say....nah don't worry about it....the upgrade in speakers will be good. But since I have them anyway.....would YOU use it?? And if so....would it be a pita to wire into that stock head?? The alternative would be to sell those components to fund other "stuff" lol.

Thanks in advance....look forward to the various thoughts.

Depends on your taste really. Could always do the mid upgrade and see how you like it. Adding a sub and amp isn't too difficult but it takes some know-how. You likely need a line out converter and to run power wire through the firewall.

What sub and amp do you have?

I'm parting with my ported single 10 box I built for behind the driver's seat with the sub behind the console. The storage tray must be removed of course. Message me if you want it or pictures of it.

I would install the sub and amp for sure. It's good equipment and can be installed fairly cheap too. You can always keep the amp gain low so the sub is not over kill...it will only add to the music experience. Enjoy the new truck!
