Trying to get input for a hi end two way front stage budget 2k. Tweeters apillar/sail.

Hertz Mille legend
Focal utopia
Morel elate carbon pro focal
Dynaudio? Don’t know much about them

Listen to edm, country, some rock, acoustic stuff too. Plan on sound treating all doors and adding jl stealth box. Helix amps/dsp

I don’t like overly bright/sharp his that would bite from the tweeters. Looking for more sq than spl

Staying away from 3 way at this point since the mids would be in the dash corner firing up at the windshield. Does anyone have a three way setup that can advise if that has been an issue with getting the tuning right? Thanks

The mids firing Into the windshield from the dash corners worked great for me. I mounted the tweets in the sail panels. I was using a Helix V8. This was in my previous truck (2021 Bighorn)

Nice thanks man good to know. If I end up going two way with like Mille legends instead think the tweeter would be fine there too? Or in that case just skip the dash location and mount the tweeter anyway? The legend tweeter crosses super low working well with the woofer. Just curious on your thoughts, would save on install for sure and stay more stealth.

Disclaimer, I do not have a high end setup. I have run of the mill consumer stuff from Kicker that I have experimented with concerning 2 ways in the dash versus a tweeter only. My basic 8.4 factory 6 speaker system now consists of the factory head unit, Kicker Key amp, Kicker 2 ways in the rear doors and dedicated kicker one inch tweets in the dash with poly mid/woofers in the front doors. Using caps as a passive crossover. The front four speakers are bi-amped off the Kicker Key and the rears run off the factory head unit. The front dash cavity only allows 3 1/2 inch baskets. It was my experience using a Kicker CS series 2 way that the staging was off. Using a 2 way limited the size of the tweeter on the speaker going from a one inch silk dome to a 1/2 inch was very noticeable. The one inch is much smoother and crisp. The small 3 1/2 inch midrange struggled to produce meaningful mids on male voices, strings and horns. I would expect higher end equipment to be able to overcome such issues. Still having the mids fire at the windshield and reflect toward the listener occasionally sounded muddy at worse and a little confusing on occasion. Personally I did not like a 2 way in the dash and went back to the one inch tweets. The sound was smoother and in my opinion more seamless.

So you went back to tweeter in the dash location and happy with the sound? Did you have a dsp at all at any point? Does anyone know what kind of corner dash speaker comes stock in the 2021 1500 bighorn with the basic 6 speakers?

Yes I went back to dedicated tweeters in the dash with poly mid/woofers in the front doors. The Kicker Key amp does have a time alignment and DSP built in. It’s a basic system but does make a small difference in tonal quality. It does better with time alignment putting the driver in the middle of the soundstage.
The OEM corner dash speakers are basic paper cone full range speakers with inline caps to filter out the lower frequencies. The front dash and door speakers are run in parallel off the same channel. Once I upgraded from the OEM speakers the weakness of running the fronts in parallel off single channels really showed.
