2019 Ram Classic 1500 5.7 Hemi. I had my first oil change done at the dealership. Will never ever do that again, $70 an I had to clean underneath my truck because they didnt. Anyway, so I am going to do my Oil changes from now on. I was going to stay with Pennzoil, but, is there really any difference between Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum? Enough of a difference to matter? And which oil filter do we use on the Hemi? I looked at the oil filter on my truck and all I can see is along number that I cant find a match for. I was looking for a MO- Number but couldnt see it. The mopar filters can be picked up for a pretty decent price so I was going to stick with the factory filter.

I appreciate the help in advance.

I had some trouble figuring out which OEM filter was correct.

The following filter is what came on the truck from the factory:
Part:MO-339 04892339AA

As for the difference between the Platinum and Ultra Platinum, I can't be sure but my guess would be the Ultra has additional or more cleaning detergents. This is just a guess and cant be sure though.

The Ultra Platinum seems to be the better choice out of the Pennzoil brand. When ever you have a few "days" to read the synthetic oil thread... https://www.ramforum.com/threads/synthetic-oil.27664/, it's very good information. The oil filter of choice is the Royal Purple 10-48 or the larger 20-820. The Wix XP and Fram XG are also very good.

I use moper filters with amsoil or Schaffers full synthetic oil in my 6.4 hemi. IMHO both better oil than Pennzoil .

I've kept mine with the basics. Castrol 5w30 full synth and the Mopar 339 filter. No Hemi tick here, and i know i had the tick on cold starts back when she had 40k something miles (i bought the truck used) and i did her first oil change with PP 5w20, 2nd oil change i went with Castrol 5w30 based on the recomendation from @Burla and i hadn't looked back since then. i've never bought aftermarket oil filters and have sold vehicles with 200k + miles in them never had a single issue with the factory ones so i've stuck with them :)

I'm trialing 20k miles with pup5w30 then uoa. Then I'll switch to qsud 5w30 20k miles another uoa. I run them at 6000mile intervals.

Usually the first oil change is on the house.
Sorry you got screwed.
Next oil change I recommend going with RedLine 5w30 and a Royal Purple filter.

110K miles, nothing but PUP. Failed lifter and chewed cam shaft at 99K. Going to switch over to Redline and royal purple filters now.
Need this truck to last another100K and, frankly, PUP had its chance and failed.
