Hi, I am new here as i just bought my 2011 Ram 1500 two weeks ago. First i just have a couple questions and i looked around the internet and around this forum but couldnt quite come up with the info i needed, and if anyone could help i would be very grateful. I have the non alpine system and well, being a music lover, it is not a very good system so i am looking to upgrade. I have some audio knowledge but not much. My first question is what are the speaker sizes? I have seen two different answers all over the internet but from a post in this forum i have seen they are 3 1/2 in the dash and 6x9s in front and back doors (I have a crew cab) and so i am assuming that is correct because i doubt they would lie. Another thing, is it necessary to upgrade all the speakers? or is just the dash and front doors good enough, this may be a stupid question. I would also like to keep the stock head unit and wire a sub and amp that i have from my last truck I know this is possible using an LOC but i would also like to wire an amp to the new speakers im going to get, is it possible to use an LOC and stock head unit for the amp powering my sub and an amp to power my speakers? I also read something about the dash speakers and the front door speakers being powered or wired together and a 4 channel amp would be able to power all six speakers, i am not sure if this is true at all as i probably misunderstood what i read, or do i need a 6 channel amp? or is amplifying all speakers unnecessary?
I know this is a lot of confusing and possibly stupid questions, but any help someone could give me will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

There are many posts here where members have detailed their audio builds... Just search away. many good ideas and different ways of doing it. All those things you list are possible, depends on the money you want to spend and if your current gear accepts speaker level inputs. Here is a link to my build
