No, I’m talking about finding a big enough blank rubber plug to cover/seal the large hole I had to drill in my stock access panel covers so that the rubber grommet that had the wires in them for the old HID lights could pass though that panel. I found these but dang, 60 bucks for two....lol.

Ah ok, how big a hole ya drill? Maybe a piece of abs plastic and double side tape it to the outside of the cover.

Be glad you don't have LED automatic reflector headlamps in the 5th Gen you have to replace the whole unit its sealed about $1200.00, I hope its a long time before I have to replace mine.

Damn! 1200??? That's a lot for OE. You can get a better quality aftermarket LED one for that price.

The largest my step bit went up to is I believe a 3/4” hole but I think what I actually needed was either a 13/16 or 7/8 to make the hole big enough for the wiring harness to slip through the hole that plugged into the original connector for the lowbeam bulb so I ended up having to use my Dremel with a nibbling bit to put a little notch in the hole at 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock just so that wide connector could fit though the hole I drilled.

But yeah, I was able to still use the original plug that had the wires in it, I just had to trim the wires really short and used one wire to go out one hole and back in the hole beside it and then tied in a knot on the other end so that the hole is still plugged in the cover and the small holes are plugged with the old wire so at least for now, my headlights are still sealed up but like I said earlier, I would like to find just a blank rubber plug to go in that space being that it doesn’t look like I can get OEM replacements. 8cf7c36af940d4e0568da8d7950db138.jpg

Probably could. Even factory replacements of my premium forth-Gen headlights is over $450 apiece.

But I’m still curious… What is it about HID bulbs that so many people say those are better to use them in these projector headlights over the LED bulbs? I’m not doubting if there is an LED bulb that will work just as good as a HID bulb in my protectors but why is it for the longest time, people have said that? Is it simply because the glass tube lights up entirely on an HID bulb an that the LED bulb only has two little bitty LEDs on each side of that piece that goes inside the headlight?

Believe me, if there’s an LED bulb that works just as good, if not a little better than a typical HID bulb, I would much rather go LED just simply because of the fact that I won’t have to get creative with having to mount all the extra junk that goes with those bulbs into the pocket that my headlights mount into and that plain and simply I should get a lot longer lifespan out of the LEDs as well.

Yep its because leds dont 360° the light but im telling ya these work great and if you look at my pics they are brighter and shine in the distance the same, just look at the stuff down the road on the corners.
I would just double side tape a piece of plastic over the holes you drilled, go to hd or lowes and search around lol.

I do have the after market cover i could sell but if it were me id do the double side tape with plastic thing, the after markets rubber plugs are loose and dont seal great unless you silicone them in place.

I figured that’s what it was because there’s more light output from the HID bulbs but even though I’m not trying to argue with you, I’m just curious what it is about those LEDs that work better than the other LEDs that I was told to pick the HID’s over.

I’ll probably look into a more permanent fix on that hole as soon as I go to put in some better bulbs.

But yeah, being that I made the holes in my existing covers a lot smaller than they were supposed to be because that was the biggest my step bit went up to, they sealed really well. Even the wires have a really soft rubber insulation as well so they seal up the holes pretty good too.

If you are looking for LED bulbs to replace the HID's, I would really consider looking into these:

9005/H10: Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 LED Fog Light Bulbs | TRS (theretrofitsource.com)

These are supposed to be an excellent LED. Expensive, but the way they are designed is pretty awesome as far as the cooling/heat mitigation is done.

Yeah, that is pretty neat. I watched the video and saw that it has an indexing ring? I take it virtually any headlight/fog light LED is supposed to positioned just right? Which makes sense, I had to index the LED fogs and highbeams to make them shins properly. Never woulda known the same was necessary for projectors.

But I see they had all those different shaped extension housing things- what are those for? Oh and I’m assuming I don’t need to purchase extra, those little anti-flicker things, do I? My other LEDs came with just their own drivers and I see that these do as well and as far as I know, I’ve never had any flickering out of my LEDs at all.

The Morimoto XB bulbs are pretty good, but then again I’ve ran the $35 Innovited HID D2S kits off Amazon and had great luck and bulbs were awesome.

Just make sure whatever you buy has a lot of good reviews or a bunch of members in here recommend them.
