New 2013 - 8.4A - Questions

Hello all,

Great forum here! Just picked up my 2013 Quad Cab with Big Horn pkg and 8.4A audio package, this morning and I'm already planning upgrades Sorry for all the questions, my mind is going crazy with all the endless possibilities!

** I did some searching in the DIY forum but can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for. My truck came with the 8.4a (nav ready). Do I have to go back to the dealer to get them to install the nav? I wanted to research first because my old truck I had a Pioneer Avic and liked that I wasn't limited to only pulling up info while in park and I know a lot of factory nav that's your only option.

** Then I read about Lockpick(sp)? I see it says not available yet for 2013, but does that first require factory nav and then I go from there? I almost ordered the OEM rear tailgate latch camera but then thought I should hold off, if I go lockpick I'm guessing I wouldn't want to use that camera?

** Also, I want to add a subwoofer to the mix, I would think there may be something I can add under one of the rear seats, hopefully a pre-fab box, I have a JL 10W6 from my last truck and a nice JL amp, so I would maybe look for a nice LOC with subwoofer control, is there a DIY or tap point information out yet for our trucks? I think it would be the same as 2012.

** Anyone successfully get the Uconnect apps working? In the brochure it shows Pandora, Slacker etc, but Ill be dang if I can get any apps installed, no directions either in the manual.

** Lastly, any good rear entertainment(headrest) monitor setups out there, I had them in my Titan and the kids loved it, me too, kept them quiet lol

Dealer has to activate the nav I believe

Lockpick can work on any factory pre 2013 touch screen radio(430, 430N, 730N). However they are most likely still engineering it for the 2013 models

Apps, it looks like there is an app button on the bottom right of the screen(based on the uconnect website)

Yes, you have to have the dealer activate the nav. Will cost you $500.

Apps not yet available, with the exception on Bing, hopefully soon.

Thanks for the info. I just called Uconnect and they told me the apps weren't available yet. They didn't seem to know much about how they will work and when but they did think they should be available soon.

I found some info on the lock pick too so it looks like that will be available soon too and it would be best if I do the factory nav upgrade and then add lockpick when available.

I can't seem to find any info though on adding a subwoofer to the system. Maybe it's too new? I doubt the stock system has pre outs but I'd like to find a nice full range output to tap with a good loc etc.
