Hey guys,

New to the half ton world, I've had diesels for a while now but living in a place with -40 weather I'm getting out of my Cummins. Besides I sold my trailer and only tow like 3000 -4000 lbs

I need some help here.

I'm thinking on a sport with a BDS 4" lift as I do mild offroad to haul bikes and other toys.

I want to do a 17" wheel and was curious If many people have 17 or even 18 wheels and what size tires. I'll have 3.92 gears but I want to keep a smaller tire as I dont want to cut up the truck and a 4" will give me plenty clearance.

I was thinking of fuel covert wheels but tires are tricky. 18 has some good options but 17 not so much.

I've thought about 255/80r17 (10" wide) but I hope those tires don't look to skinny. Then it jumps to 285 which is 11.2" wide

On my current truck I have 275 for winter and 285 for summer, I notice the 285 does make steering heavier, but they are on 10" wide wheels and are "full"

I I through in a pic of my current cummins and an example of what truck I'm looking at.1ec022e70fcf4aa3897b0a87b92dac9c.jpg99f55f71f92f092621323cbcd4633917.jpg33583051c695374f6634af298e4d46ae.jpga5b092e9298170ddcfe817e63c20a556.jpg

17” rims won’t fit over the brake package and many aftermarket 18s” won’t fit either.

I had an F150 and needed 18" with 12mm or less offset. On BDS website it says 17" fits with a certain offset

The new 19s need 20” rims. Only certain 18s will fit due to the oversized brake package they come with. I have the previous still truck, A 2017 with 18s and 35s on a 3” lift and no rubbing. 4” with 35s should be good for you.

As far as I am aware there are no 17” wheels that will fit a DT model. You can always roll with oem 18” wheels and pair them with a nice aggressive A/T tire in a 33X11.50 fitment.

I want a nice beadlock style wheel as an offroad style truck. I have dirt bikes, a side by side, mtn bikes and snowmobiles. So I want a truck for moving that stuff around which sometimes involves mild offroading
